Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), the Senior Care Topline Manager, FP&A will be responsible for managing the execution of various on-going planning and reporting cycles. This will include planning the resources, accountability on successful execution, and driving a continuous improvement framework to identify needed process and tool improvements. This will also include providing analysis and insights to various team members and business partners, to inform decision making and influence improved business outcomes. This position will be focused on topline performance (Bookings, Annual Recurring Revenue, Gross Margin) and may have 1 to 2 direct reports. Strong experience in financial modelling, converting large volumes of data into models and tools tailored for decision making, is a requirement and prominent part of the role. Therefore, experience with Business Intelligence (BI), reporting, and data visualization tools, including PowerBI, is also a requirement. Most importantly, the candidate must have a proven track record of achieving outstanding business outcomes through this type of financial modelling and business partnering. In addition, the candidate must have a proven track record of developing talent, with a proven track record of planning and developing the careers and skill sets of direct reports.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage processes, including implementing improvements, that drive cross-functional alignment on topline forecasts, for metrics such as Bookings, New Revenue, Churn, and Annual Recurring Revenue.
- Develop and maintain new tools or improve existing tools, which includes the financial models used to forecast topline metrics and perform budget vs actual (BvA) analysis. These tools and models will be used to support various key deliverables, including quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning.
- Strengthen P&L understanding and further segment Senior Care business to enhance business understanding of profitability and the levers that impact financial outcomes. This includes a focus on the financial profile for Strategic Partnerships and Marketplace offering.
- Conduct actual vs. forecast/budget and previous year(s) financial variance analysis on monthly basis with meaningful commentary to Leadership on its performance to support establishment of appropriate actions and apply the implications to forecast
- Shared accountability for maintaining accurate forecasts on headcount and discretionary spend for direct cost functions, including Professional Services, Sales, Customer Success, and Customer Support. Including advising team members and business partners when intervention is required to meet margin targets.
- Work collaboratively with accounting during monthly / quarterly close cycles to ensure actuals are booked with accuracy, including maintain accruals accurate and up to date.
- Direct responsibility for development of direct reports within the team. This includes planning their development and managing their performance through performance conversations and frameworks, at the right cadence
- Accountable to the final deliverables that are delivered to audiences such as Leadership and the Board of Directors, overseeing work of the team for the right quality and accuracy
- Provide ad hoc analytics support, which given the maturity level of the organization and FP&A team, is expected on a regular basis
- Proactively work with peers to continue to mature the operation of both the FP&A team and how the FP&A team interacts with other Finance functions
- Partner with Data Enablement and Business Intelligence (DEBI) team to automate models that are deemed vital to include in centralized reporting platforms (e.g. 360)
- Preference given to candidates in the Greater Toronto Area
Required Experience:
- 4-6 years of prior technology or SaaS industry background is a key requirement; experience working with GTM functions (e.g., Sales, Professional Services, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in business/finance/accounting-related field required, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced MS Excel skills is a key requirement, including comfort with advanced functionality such as Power Query and Power Pivot. In addition, experience with PowerBI or similar advanced reporting and visualization tools is also a key requirement.
- Experience across entire lifecycle of building new tools or financial models, including ideation, design, implementation, and sustainability.
- Proven examples in the past of leveraging tools and financial models to influence business partners and inform important and strategic decision making.
- Proven success leading diverse teams through multiple Change Management initiatives, preferably in a rapidly growing SaaS-based organization.
- A growth mindset, a builder’s mentality, and a proven track record for execution.
- Advanced understanding of different financial and management reporting principles and frameworks, and deep knowledge of financial accounting practices pertaining to data flows for FP&A system outputs.
- Highly outcome-focused, with the proven ability to work with challenging deadlines and deliver on commitments.
