About this role
As a Product Manager within the Regulatory Technology group at Blackrock, you will be focused on aligning product strategy and delivery for Aladdin’s regulatory product offering, working directly with the Regulatory Operations team, Global Financial Reporting team, Legal and Compliance, Product Marketing and Relationship Managers to define and shape requirements as we continue our multi-year journey to build a “best in class” Regulatory Reporting platform. In this role you will be a key player in driving the product lifecycle form discovery to delivery, iterating at speed with ownership over significant portions of the product roadmap. You will be responsible for working closely with the wider Product Management team and Engineering leads to define, manage, and execute on our product vision to create best-in-class regulatory reporting platform.
You will need to be able to structure requirements to allow a smooth route to implementation by the development team, while having the flexibility to adjust this as new information comes to light. The ability to maintain a strategic outlook on the products that the team supports, whilst being able to rapidly respond tactically, as, and when required, is an important part of the role. The role will go beyond transactional reporting obligations such as MiFID II and EMIR, to encompass capital adequacy, market abuse, anti-money laundering and other regulatory mandates, allowing the business to continue operating in a compliant manner.
As a Product Manager, you’ll be closely connected with the marketplace, our client community, and BlackRock business strategy to drive product direction. Sitting at the intersection of business and technology, Product Managers work closely with Aladdin developers and other stakeholders to innovate, conceptualize, design and pilot new capabilities to simplify our clients’ business problems
Key Responsibilities:
• Define and own the product story and roadmap
• Understand the respective regulations and be a regulatory reporting ecosystem expert
• Stay attuned to be ahead of regulation, industry, market, and technology trends to create opportunities for BlackRock and better serve our clients
• Serve as a resource to internal and external clients regarding our capabilities in the context of their business
• Be metrics driven. Track and measure usage and feedback to inform product strategy
• Keep abreast of the competition in the regulatory technology space, with an eye to the commercialization of the product.
• Partner with project managers, product managers, technical leads, business owners and developers to ensure continual feedback loops throughout the entire software development lifecycle
• Evaluate business processes to anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop mitigating enhancements required for both near and longer-term solutions
• Produce key artifacts including business and functional requirement documents, user stories, test cases, user acceptance test plans and release notes
• Develop a deep understanding of the market, users, business problems, and opportunities
Experience / Qualifications
· Experience of 3+ years of experience working in the financial industry
· Business
o Strong comprehension of the regulatory landscape including impact to clients and the financial industry
o You understand risk management, financial services, and relevant technologies
o Strong engagement in the post-trade and regulatory industry landscape, market, and technology trends
o Knowledge of the trade lifecycle, with a focus on derivatives, is highly desirable
o Keep abreast of the competition in the regulatory technology space, with experience in commercializing products.
o Experience in client demonstrations, presentations, and user training
· Functional
o Understanding of product and software development lifecycles
o Experience with agile development practices
o Experience creating a product roadmap, writing business and technical specifications, executing on product deliverables
o Experience interacting with product stakeholders, including end users and software developers
· Leadership
o Ability to work well with technical and non-technical partners
o Reputation of building trusting relationships
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and communicate up and down the organization
o Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and planning skills, including ability to balance opposing priorities
o Ability to work and deliver results independently, self-starter
o Ability to set and maintain priorities in a multi-task environment
