Job Description

Girls Who Code is seeking enthusiastic Discord Moderators for our 2024 Summer Programs. During the summer, we host two programs: our synchronous Summer Immersion Program (SIP) and our asynchronous Self-Paced Program (SPP). Our curriculum is designed to educate, inspire, and equip high school girls and non-binary students with the skills and resources to pursue academics and careers in the technology and engineering sectors, as well as build bravery and confidence. Our flexible virtual programs are unique in their approach by offering students across the country to participate in a computer science class that includes community-building and career exploration opportunities. Students enrolled in our programs will learn about Game Design, Cybersecurity, Web Design, Data Science, and AI. We believe all girls have the interest and ability to code. Our Summer Programs Discord Moderator will encourage, nurture, and support students in the Discord space and with asynchronous moments of connection through our program. They will support all students enrolled in the program (about ~4500 per program) by supporting server setup, assigning students roles, posting announcements and discussion starters, and moderating student contributions in the GWC Discord servers over the course of the programs. Self-Paced Program (Dates: June 24 - August 16, 2024) Our Self-Paced Program runs for six weeks with one week of preparation before the program launches (a total of seven weeks in-program).
