Job Summary

Comcast is currently seeking a Vice President (VP) of Public Relations to join our Central Division Communications team. Reporting directly to Senior Vice President of Division Communications, the VP of Public Relations will lead the development of a center of excellence (COE) for earned and owned media strategies designed to elevate our brand and build awareness of our products, services and community investment across our 12-state division. Working closely with our Employee Communications, Region Communications, and Communications Operations teams, this savvy and proven communications strategist will oversee the development of cutting-edge, integrated media strategies and campaigns that engage employees, advocates, influencers, and journalists in local, division, and national storytelling efforts. The ideal candidate will have significant experience developing and leading Public Relations strategy for large national and/or global consumer brands with demonstrated expertise in planning integrated campaigns leveraging earned and owned channels as well as events. Additionally, the ideal candidate will experience leveraging data and analytics and working closely with key, internal business partners (e.g., Marketing, Government Relations, Customer Experience, etc) to create audience-specific strategies and KPIs.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Division and HQ communications teams and business partners to translate business priorities into Public Relations objective and campaigns.
  • Develop and implement annual and quarterly Public Relations plans the can be localized and executed division wide.
  • Lead the evolution of our advocacy and media relations capabilities with a heavy emphasis on both new and traditional earned media, multicultural, owned/social media strategies and influencer engagement.
  • Partner with Division & HQ Communications leadership to develop campaign briefs and resources to guide the planning, local execution and measurement of Public Relations strategies.
  • Recruit as necessary, develop, motivate and retain a high caliber of team members.
  • Oversee team budget and control expenses.
  • Manage employees to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Maintain and foster collaborative internal and external relationships.
  • Support all aspects of public relations including crisis/issues management, media relations, influencer engagement, campaign, announcement and event development.
  • Develop and oversee use of outside resources, including any contracted writers and public relations agencies.
  • Oversee production of creative, effective and timely PR resources and materials
  • Review requests for corporate funding and event participation as needed.
  • Initiate and oversee multiple successful communications projects and events with firm deadlines and budgets.
  • Serve as company spokesperson, interface with Senior Leadership to provide counsel and interview preparation as-need, interact with all levels of the public.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field
  • 10+ years related experience, 2+ years at upper-level position.
  • Excellent creative, visual, written, and oral communications skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a Communications team effectively.
  • Ability to comfortably interface with the public and superior presentation skills.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
