This position is based in San Antonio, TX

What you'll do:

Under direct supervision, you will perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members tasks:

  • Performs professional duties in support of operations for the functional area assigned.
  • Applies foundational functional knowledge to produce work objectives in support of team initiatives.
  • Leads limited departmental projects and/or participates as a project resource on larger initiatives.
  • Finds opportunities and facilitates basic improvements to processes and systems.
  • Performs routine tasks under direct supervision and within established procedures and guidelines.
  • May interact with clients for technical requests to understand requirements and limitations in different phases of project lifecycle to include research, testing and implementation.
  • Applies quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer the business objective and drive the appropriate change.
  • Incorporates visualization techniques to support the relevant points of the analysis and ease the understanding for less technical audiences.
  • Supports identifying and capturing the relevant and quality data sources required to fully answer and address the problem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratory data analysis.
  • Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews and compliance requirements.
  • Delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences up to mid level management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy.

What you need to have:

To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher at a 4-year accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2024 internship

will start on May 29, 2024 and last through August 9, 2024.

  • Graduation date cannot be prior to August 10, 2024
  • 0 to 2 years of related experience and accountability for simple to moderately sophisticated tasks and/or projects required.
  • Foundational and conceptual knowledge of the function/subject area and proven application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products required.
  • Foundational level of discernment in the areas of the business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher at a 4-year accredited university in quantitative analytics field such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative disciplines.

What sets you apart:

  • Graduation date between August 10, 2024 and July 2025
  • Pursuing a master’s degree or higher at a 4-year accredited university in Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative disciplines.
  • 2 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the respective industry of responsibility (i.e. P&C, Bank, Finance)
  • Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques and approaches used to drive fact-based decision-making.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location. The range for this position is: $22 - $34.

Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.
