Head of Financial Control

Adyen is looking for a Head of Financial Control to lead its Financial Controlling team centrally based in Amsterdam. The team's core responsibilities include global financial compliance and end responsibility for Adyen financial records. This role reports directly into the Global Head of Accounting & Control. The team lead will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across finance, legal and compliance.

We expect the Head of Financial Control to build for scale. With your team you'll support various stakeholders in executing Adyen's global long-term strategy. Furthermore, through our annual Group Finance OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) you'll help execute our must-win battles, always with scale and automation front of mind .

Your challenge will be to continue setting the team up for scale. This includes: growing and supporting the team to drive automation projects; changing the systematic setup fast while complying to local regulation; cooperating and building efficient relationships with third party service providers.

What you’ll do

• Drive simplification, standardization, digitalisation, and automation of financial accounting and reporting operations to improve efficiency and controls and ensure the ERP system and other financial processes that keeps up with modern-day requirements and standards
• Lead all local financial accounting and control activities of the Group with a centralized Financial Controlling team. Ensure the timely and accurate closing of accounts on a monthly basis and preparation of periodic financial reports
• Maintain global standards and establish adequate controls for the financial controlling function, ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and statutory accounting and reporting requirements in all relevant jurisdictions
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders, lead financial accounting and reporting related initiatives, and take an active role in expansions into new jurisdictions
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external auditors for the Group (Netherlands) and across geographies
• Lead and mentor the direct reports, act as a role model for the organization and cultivate a winning culture, facilitate learning and development, manage and plan resources, and oversee the unit’s affairs
• Prioritize well to manage ad hoc matters and perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time

Who you are

• A minimum of 8 years experience in financial accounting and reporting with a multinational organization or a Big 4 company and a proven track record in leading financial accounting and reporting activities
• In-depth expertise across the different areas of financial accounting and reporting and a deep understanding of financial process optimization to contribute to scaling Adyen’s Group Finance team
• Strong people leadership skills to build and lead high-performance teams in an international setup; it is expected that you will coach and develop others in the team, and you are decisive when needed
• A systematic approach to solve complex problems and solution-oriented thinking with a high attention to detail and a big picture view
• A high degree of self-motivation, ambitious and hands-on, with an entrepreneurial mindset; a good team player with the ability to engage with people and deliver within tight deadlines and in a fast-paced, international environment

Please note that this role is a full-time position in Amsterdam. It will require a relocation in case you live outside of The Netherlands.
