Overview

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Responsible for overall planning, resource coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of various IT-related projects at the center. Ensures projects are delivered within the planned schedule, budget, and scope. Has responsibility for independently managing all aspects of assigned projects.

Responsibilities

Project Management Skills

  • Work with project sponsors and stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, risks, organization, and approach
  • Develop detailed project work plans and budgets
  • Work with resource managers to obtain resources
  • Convene the project team and oversee successful completion of assigned project tasks
  • Track and manage issues
  • Track and manage project budgets
  • Communicate status to project sponsors, team, and stakeholders
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget changes according to defined change control procedures
  • Serve as project liaison, representing the project to other center departments, affiliated individuals or institutions, and outside organizations.


Interpersonal Skills

  • Understand and interact according to the norms and practices of the organizational culture
  • Tailor communications as appropriate for various audiences
  • Provide leadership and direction to the project team
  • Manage vendor/consultant relationships, where required by the project
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with team members, project sponsors and peers


Results

  • Produce quality deliverables that are within the project's schedule, budget, and scope

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS in related field required
  • A minimum of 2 years IT project management experience
  • Experience managing multiple projects for the full life cycle utilizing a project management methodology desired
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and analytical skills
  • Mix of business and technical talents
  • Sufficient functional and technical knowledge as required for assigned project(s)
  • A proactive attitude
  • Proficiency with common office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) as well as project management applications, such as MS Project

This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. Because of our immunocompromised patient population, there are no medical or religious accommodations available for any employee who is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. The annual base salary range for this position is from $81,979 to $122,969 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
