**Contingent Upon Contract Award**
Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly motivated and experienced System Engineer to work on the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) program.
You will report to the Systems Engineering and Integration Manager as a member of the Deep Space Exploration Business Unit. Your primary responsibility will be to partake in a multidisciplinary team in the system level design and development of MAVIS fault protection and fault management system. You will be responsible for technical and design aspects of the fault protection system, as well as supporting schedules and deliverables for the fault protection effort. You will follow the section's methodology on the execution of the Fault Protection and Fault Management system engineering process and assist in seeing that practices are effectively utilized and implemented by the flight systems engineering team.
You will work independently and within a team environment, collaborating on tasks performed across a spectrum of disciplines and have excellent writing and oral presentation skills.
Tasks my include but are not limited to:
• Developing the autonomy and fault protection requirements/principles/practices and products for space system architectures, designs, implementations, and verification and validation
• Be responsible for the development of products and participation in engineering design trades and program reviews
• Ensuring that the section's methodology on the execution of the system engineering process and practices are effectively utilized and implemented by the flight systems engineering team

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline or Master's degree or PhD
• Flight project implementation experience in the Fault Protection and/or Vehicle Health Management and/or Redundancy
• Wide-ranging experience and advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Systems engineering
- Aerospace engineering
- System level testing and venues
- Reliability trades/analyses
• Experienced with FMECA and/or Fault Trees
• Availability for occasional domestic travel as required/5%
Desired Skills:
• Extensive understanding in a wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts, designs, analyses, and techniques in autonomous space systems and fault protection resulting in contributions to the development of new theories and methods
• Significant knowledge of the function and operation of spacecraft systems, subsystems, and instruments
• Experience coordinating design efforts with partner organizations or vendors
• Subject matter expert of systems engineering fault protection design, autonomy, and design analysis products
• Career experience with functional requirement development and translation into system
design/architecture, implementation, and delivery
• Experience working through complete project life-cycle
• Demonstrated ability to contribute at both the architectural and subsystem level of integration
• Experience with verification, integration, and test of flight vehicles
• Experience leading tasks and coordinating working groups on large-scale projects in system development, test, and/or operations
• Excellent organizational and team building skills; aptitude to work with difficult colleagues in a productive manner; verbal clarity sufficient to explain difficult technical topics to those external to the field
• Ability to work independently on major project assignments, with accountability for technical
performance, budget and schedule
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Proven ability to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently and interact effectively across multiple disciplines
• Experience with development and delivery of system documentation, such as requirements documents, test plans, and release description documents
• Be a self-motivated individual who can work independently, in a team environment, and lead a team

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $82,200 - $157,500. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
