We're searching for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Open DevOps team. Atlassian Jira is already the centre of your team's work planning and tracking and has amazing integration into your Code and CI/CD tools. In Open DevOps we are taking this vision and expanding it out to more of Atlassian's products and more tools to make it even more powerful and relevant to more of the people in your team. You'll be building effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into a broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.
What you'll do:
- Hire, form and grow new team, and establish its culture, processes, and social connections
- Work with Designers, Product Managers, your Engineers, and Principal/Architects to guide the roadmap for scaling and evolving the product and services your team is responsible for delivering.
Your background:
- 5+ years experience building large-scale web software and operating it in production.
- Bachelor's degree with a preference for Computer Science degree
- Established experience leading a development team in (at least) a technical capacity
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
- Knowledge of distributed systems concepts, e.g. scaling, consistency and availability tradeoffs
- Familiarity with platform thinking, to focus on usability by our internal customers.
- Success with new team formation and evolution
- Prior experience developing platforms and/or working with external partners desirable.
