Job Description

Position Overview:

Eaton Corporation is currently seeking a Director, Power Systems Solutions (PSS) Operations for our Electrical Engineering Services and Systems (EESS) Division. This position can be based in either Moon Township, PA, Beachwood, OH, Raleigh or Charlotte, NC.

Reporting to the VP/GM EESS, the Director is a critical member of the EESS senior leadership team and is the primary leader for the Power Systems Solutions business. The Director sets the strategic priorities and overall direction for the PSS organization in working with the three main businesses; 1; Power Systems Automation (PSA), 2; Power Systems Controls (PSC), and 3; Power Systems Engineering (PSE) teams. This position is critical to ensure that financial, growth, technology, and service productivity objectives are met, and that the PSS organization continues to have the leadership needed to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The Director will work closely with EESS’s Director of Operations and Director of Finance to further streamline our business processes and enable scaling at a faster rate. This position is also responsible for partnering with customers, sales, and marketing to solve the most challenging power systems problems faced by our customers. This person will also facilitate setting the target markets, customers, and growth objectives for PSS in support of the division’s short- and long-term objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure top line sales and manufacturing profit objectives are met for the PSS product lines
  • Work in conjunction with finance, PSS leaders, and SLT to develop a forward-looking profit plan and monthly forecasts with accuracy so that the operation meets these numbers on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis
  • Manage the performance of PSS to the profit plan objectives for cost, utilization, absorption, quality, growth programs and customer satisfaction
  • Deploy metrics relevant to the function to maintain a high performing team environment
  • Keep current on the trends and significant issues providing direction for the profit and strategic planning processes.
  • Assure an effective and skilled staff through recruiting, assessment of talent, training & development, goal setting, communications, and performance management, and conformance to applicable company policies and standards
  • Champion safety policies and programs and ensures safety equipment is available and properly tested.
  • Key interface with national and key account customers, sales force, manufacturing plants, product division management, and functional support staff
  • Develop and deploy product/process improvement initiatives and sharing of best practices throughout PSS
  • Responsible for accurate, comprehensive design and technical validation for customer orders in complete compliance with customer specifications, applicable engineering standards, safety requirements and legal requirements
  • Participates in industry organizations and associations and maintains relationships with key customer and industry technical leaders
  • Ensures that efforts to improve the efficiency of the PSS are emphasized through creative organizational management, effective use of engineering tools, appropriate training and continuous improvement
  • Establishes a division power systems solutions strategy and establishes responsibilities and measures to ensure implementation is realized
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) of experience in leading a service or engineering business unit
  • At least ten (10) years of experience working in the industrial / utility service field
  • Authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License
  • Strong collaborative mindset and effective leadership in complex matrix organizations
  • Track record of driving operational excellence and achieving measurable success (e.g., utilization, absorption, etc.)
  • Track record of driving growth based on novel value propositions, validated product roadmaps, or new channel strategies
  • Track record in talent development and building strong business organizations
  • Experience with creating and growing digital services

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required
  • An advanced degree is preferred

Compensation:

  • Eaton recognizes this role as a critical position within the corporation and will create a compelling package consisting of a base salary, employee incentive compensation, including long term incentive and complete benefits
