Director of Cloud Infrastructure and SRE

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Director of Cloud Infrastructure and SRE to lead our dedicated team of Cloud Infrastructure Engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) in leading a heterogeneous deployment focused on AWS and GCP. The Director will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and vision for our cloud infrastructure, ensuring our systems' reliability, scalability, and security on both platforms. Have a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, extensive experience in leading cloud infrastructure in a heterogeneous environment, and a track record of building and leading impactful engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the strategic direction for our cloud infrastructure on both AWS and GCP, including technology selection, system architecture, and automation initiatives.
• Lead and develop a team of Cloud Infrastructure Engineers and SREs, providing guidance, mentoring, and career development opportunities.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including Development, Operations, Compliance, and Security, to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of infrastructure services.
• Define and implement processes and procedures to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure on both AWS and GCP.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of our cloud infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to address them.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including data protection and privacy regulations.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud computing technologies and industry trends, and provide guidance and recommendations to the executive leadership team.
• Work with the team to develop long-term infrastructure roadmaps to efficiently scale our services.
• Collaborate with product management team members to help resolve priority conflicts and develop the roadmap for your team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, including extensive experience with AWS and GCP.
• 6+ years of experience running and leading Cloud Infrastructure and SRE teams in a heterogeneous environment.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.
• Experience with network and security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.

Note: Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and benefits, and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $230,400 - 316,800 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $204,000 - 280,500 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $184,000 - 253,000 per year
