This is your role. What part will you play?

The right candidate has procurement experience in projects environment, ideally from rail, infrastructure, energy or utilities, or EPC industries.

With focus on the Rail Infrastructure (RI) Business Unit, the Project Procurement Manager is responsible for integrating Procurement in the project management process. This requires proactive involvement with cross-functional teams during tendering stage, as well as project execution stage. During Tendering Stage this will mean being an active member in the bid team, obtaining technical and commercial information so to run first and second round RFT/RFQs to be inserted into the Siemens tender. This will also mean having ability to find and identify suppliers in different markets. For project execution this means reviewing technical and commercial information to finalise any positions or close any gaps, leading complex high-value tendering, leading contract negotiations with vendors, and ensuring the suppliers delivery to the project schedule.

Finally being projects environment, means being firstly flexible enough to respond to dynamic scope and T&C changes as they evolve. Also being projects means it is a time constrained environment, so ensuring that procurement solutions are provided in tightly defined timeframes.

You will:

  • Be a proactive team member in bid/tendering teams during sales phase, and working alongside project managers and technical personnel during project execution. This includes leading all vendor engagements by creating and running RFQ and RFTs, negotiating suppliers contracts, and ensuring proper sourcing awarding (procurement) processes are followed.
  • Early Involvement during sales phase. This includes participating in bid/no bid decisions and bid creations. This means working well with tendering teams members to obtain technical specifications, defining which gaps need further technical clarification, and obtaining the customer head contract T&Cs that have to flow to suppliers. Then running RFTs
  • During Project Execution participating in the project/sales meetings to provide procurement market and preferred supplier information at an early stage to optimize supplier selection, internal workflows and processes. Procurement savings targets are met for project execution activities.
  • Identify Procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, claims and market forces during the project, with Commodity Management to avoid potential damage
  • Support project calculation with reliable and up-to-date cost data
  • Lead contractual and price negotiations to secure project targets with optimum conditions
  • Establish proper sourcing processes, and ensuring all Procurement activites in the project or area of responsibility follow Siemens policies and processes.
