Job Summary

Analytics and Experimentation (AXP) in the Comcast Applied AI & Discovery organization is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to help design, implement, improve on our Cloud Architecture, and collaborate on Data Platform and Comcast Product initiative and enhancements. The AXP Data Engineering team’s mission is to empower our Product & Engineering partners helping them make the data-driven decisions that drive customer value through improvements to the Connected Living and Entertainment products. To accomplish this, our team performs the data ingestion and transformation for various Comcast apps and device data to make them available within the Cloud Architecture. We make use of technologies like Spark, Presto, Scala, Python, various AWS Services in our ETL pipelines to expose the data to our analysts, product domain experts and machine learning applications. 2022 and beyond will be the year of data for the AXP Org and we are looking for someone to help us with various Cloud Platform and Data Pipelines initiatives. This is a hands-on job for a “big data” engineer. The job requires both serious technical chops and effective communication skills. Candidate will help to promote the use of industry and company technology standards while ensuring a balance between tactical and strategic technology solutions. Following standard PR review process and following the best practices regarding coding and architectural guidelines are expected. Coding and development with our CI/CD pipeline tools will be critical to the operations, testing and automation.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensures solutions are well engineered, operable, maintainable, and delivered on schedule.
  • Expertise in DevOps and Infrastructure as it relates to AWS Infrastructure and various AWS Services.
  • Utilize the various AWS Services (Kinesis, Lambda, S3, Athena, SQS, IAM etc) to provision Data Pipes.
  • Design and Manage the API endpoints, and complex Data Pipelines in distributed environment.
  • Involved in ETL utilizing Spark, Scala, Python on Databricks for Data Engineering and Architecture.
  • Utilize Data Analysis skills, Looker and Spark framework for aggregations and BI Analytical requirements.
  • Develop data models and mappings.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis on existing products and datasets (both unstructured and structured).
  • Implement the design and develop tools that automatically detect data anomalies, enabling Product Analysts and engineers to easily build/manage their own ETLs.
  • He/ She will work closely with our Client Development Teams, Platform engineering team, and AI teams to manage all stages of the data pipeline.
  • Experience with experimentation A/B Testing Data Pipes and managing KPIs is nice-to-have.
  • Monitors current and future trends, technology and information that will positively affect organizational projects; applies and integrates emerging technological trends to new and existing systems architecture.
  • Contributes to the overall system implementation strategy for the enterprise and participates in appropriate forums, meetings, presentations etc. to meet goals.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
