Verisk Life, Health & Travel (LHT) has over 20 years’ experience of providing risk rating tools to the insurance market. LHT provides medical and veterinary underwriting software to insurance providers that enables the rating of pre-existing medical conditions to allow informed underwriting decisions to be made on travel, health, pet and other health related insurance products. Clients range from multinational and specialist insurers to insurance brokers and aggregators.
Job Description
Main purpose of the job including responsibilities:
1. Lead strategic planning initiatives for Life, Health and Travel
- Perform market research and prepare strategic plans to inform medium to long term business direction (organic and inorganic), including go-to-market plans
- Drive strategic planning efforts within LH&T and work with LHT Global Managing Director to secure necessary approvals, resources and/or capital
- Work with key stakeholders within LHT and across Verisk to determine opportunities and align business direction according to Verisk’s corporate strategic goals.
2. Product
- Assess current product suite and plans to help determine future product requirements and priorities, and to support the leadership team to execute the agreed plans.
3. Sales
- Manage any new Business Development Manager headcount for new products / markets outside of APAC region.
4. General
- Supporting the Global Managing Director to ensure delivery of all agreed strategies, business plans and results for the business as a whole
Key activities/main duties:
1. Lead strategic planning initiatives for LHT
- Clearly define and facilitate the execution of the the growth strategy for LHT, including the operational and resource requirements to support growth.
- Engage key internal stakeholders for support and assistance in executing the growth strategy, both from Verisk executive and internal LHT team members.
- Support Business Development teams to review pricing approaches and models for new products / markets and clients
- Support Business Development teams with access to potential new contacts and assist in sales presentations / discussions as requested
- Understand market requirements and client need to sponsor, progress and bring to market innovative solutions.
- Establish GTM plans for new markets including business development, marketing and lead generation, attending and presenting at industry events and shows, working with marketing to develop collateral and marketing content, building and managing partnership relationships and industry relationships.
- Establish an understanding of emerging client needs from the market, industry research and clients, and feedback intelligence into the company for prospective product development.
- Working with Verisk’s corporate M&A team, define LHT M&A strategy, identify potential investment opportunities, prepare requirements for investment committee and lead any investment activity for the LHT business.
- Work with LHT Global MD to contribute to annual planning & budgeting process and stress test plans to ensure achievability of long-term targets
- Design, administer and evolve processes related to business development and engagements
- Support the business in the implementation of new areas of strategic focus for LHT such as the Life insurance market
- Drive financial planning aspect of strategic initiatives as required e.g. expansion activities / acquisitions / growth projects
2. Product In collaboration with the Global MD and LHT Product Owner, define the product strategy and proposition.
- Working with key stakeholders within the business, progress new initiatives, drive innovation and develop new products and services for specific markets of opportunity.
- Working with the Product Team, ensure global product development requirements are defined, prioritised and communicated with necessary stakeholders across the LHT business (i.e. product and management team).
- Support the team to identify new product opportunities or enhancements through Business Development team input, client feedback, competitor analysis, data & analytics information availability and technology developments
- Facilitate the expansion of the LHT product suite and its strategic roll-out to agreed target markets.
- Explore opportunities to expand LHT into other fields where current technology could add value and identify opportunities to partner / work with other Verisk business units to enhance market offerings.
- Work with the creativity squad to encourage innovation and a culture of idea generation with a view to expanding LHT market offerings.
3. Sales
- Manage any new business development headcount located outside of APAC, develop new business and update forecasts with Verisk leadership team.
- Work with the Director of Operations to ensure appropriate and effective use of an LHT wide CRM solution by the sales team (Salesforce.com)
4. General
- Supporting the Global Managing Director, to ensure appropriate governance and delivery of all agreed strategies, business plans and results for the business as a whole
- As a member of the LHT management team, contribute to the direction of the LHT business unit, including decisions regarding financial stability, operational direction and execution of strategy. Interface with Verisk
- Manage all strategic project submissions and presentations requiring LHT executive management approval or involvement
- Where required, assist with the preparation of materials for internal stakeholder meetings
- Work with the Corporate M&A team to define and execute M&A strategy for LHT.
Qualifications
Requirements
- We are looking for a personable, confident, credible individual with the following skills, qualities and experience:
- Commercially aware with proven success in the life and/or health insurance industry – preferably with sales and/or account management experience.
- Good business and financial knowledge – experience with contract negotiations and the setting of commercial terms.
- Experience in strategic planning and M&A.
- The ability to work well independently, whilst retaining active communication with colleagues on progress, status and plans
- An agile approach to work and adaptable to change.
- Experience of working in a growing and developing business.
- Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills.
- Calm, diplomatic and self-aware.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills with good knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Self-sufficient with a high level of organisational ability.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confident and capable of presenting factual data to a wide audience, with the ability to tailor presentation data and style to suit different audiences
- Ability to translate technical information into tangible business benefits that can be easily explained to, and understood by, clients.
- Motivated and driven by building business through the provision of cutting-edge solutions that facilitate market change.
