Job Description

The Global VP Corporate Events will use leadership and problem-solving skills to lead the daily operation of the Corporate Events teams with a focus on customer service and satisfaction. This is includes both internal events, as well as those that support our clients.

The team will have direct influence on Activation, Culinary and Corporate Events globally (through direct reporting lines and through establishing requirements for regional representatives to follow).

This position is a newly created role which reports to the Senior Vice President Corporate Services, and is responsible for leading the global team’s governance, strategy, and operations around ‘hospitality’, including:

  • Lead the formulation and implementation of activations while ensuring that each experience/ event realizes its full business potential.
  • Ownership of colleague event satisfaction analysis – defining and implementing methods of routinely gathering feedback from colleagues and event participants
  • Coordinate across multiple business units which would have input into employee activities
  • Create and manage site, regional and global event plans / calendars. May be Site, Regional, Client, or Function / Product Specific
  • Utilize methods to evaluate and measure event success and ROI, performing post-event evaluations including data reporting and analysis for stakeholders
  • Formulate and implement strategies and tactics that ensure goals and objectives are met with success
  • Evaluate event performance, identify opportunities for performance improvement and develop plans for future implementation
  • Manage a team to pull together the creative and logistics components of small and large-scale events
  • Lead development and conceptualization of organization’s strategy for events
  • Increase engagement strategy, approach, planning, and execution for high-profile candidate events, large company events, training, seminars, conferences, meetings both internal and external
  • Meet with event stakeholders to gain an understanding of the event’s purpose and goals
  • Outline scope of events, forecasting budget and resources in advance
  • Manage a team to work with vendors to determine best fits for budget/goals of event, negotiate and manage vendor contracts to Service Levels
  • Manage a team that coordinates all event logistics and services, including detailed proposals for events, timelines, venues, contractors, equipment, suppliers, budgets, technology/equipment, food/beverage, transportation, lodging, where applicable
  • Provide strategic leadership on new event ideas and experiences in virtual and hybrid landscape, leveraging appropriate technology
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders within Visa business units to help ensure event success and promote the teams skillset

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree in Hospitality and/or Event Management, operations, and strategy
• Experience working for a large global organization
• Strong people manager
• Proven decision making and problem-solving capabilities with strong follow up skills and attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with exceptional ability to translate ideas and thoughts in written presentations
• Demonstrated exceptional project management, organization and planning skills applied in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
• Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the company
• Challenges the status-quo, looks for innovative solutions that help simplify processes
• Can present ideas and directions that lead others to action, demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills
• Comprehensive understanding of the meetings and events industry ecosystem
• Experience with analytical and financial data
• Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
• Is a brilliant relationship builder with a natural ability to influence and motivate individuals and teams
• Is a skilled communicator and negotiator with a laser focus on the finest detail
• Team player with flexibility to accommodate different personalities and work styles as well as confidence to manage interactions and expectations at all levels of the organization
• Flexibility for travel and to work evening hours and some weekends depending on event schedule
