Expert - US Safety Compliance Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities: · Ensuring safety compliance for safety lifecycle processing based on the US regulations(DOT, VSSA, FMVSS) · Consulting with the legal department and advising leadership and management on safety compliance matters, especially in the due care area. · Provide technical safety solutions or advice on occupant-less low-speed vehicles, passenger vehicle conditional driving automation, and passenger vehicle automated driving systems (in U.S.DOT actions). · Provide technical advice on crash types, crash causation, crash rates, digital highway measurement, network screening, data limitations, analysis and diagnosis, Crash Reduction Factors (CRF), and safety management systems, especially in AD area. · Review available crash data, summarize the crash history, and provide recommendations for AD safety mechanism improvements. · Tracking and analyzing the laws, regulations, and standards related to system safety, functional safety, and SOTIF, especially those applicable to intelligent or connected vehicles · Participating in the design of automated tools and systems for system safety and compliance · Identifying, investigating, and reporting compliance issues, irregularities, and violations from a technical perspective (based on a Comprehensive plan) · Developing and providing employee training on compliance policies, practices, and reporting systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree or above in vehicle engineering or IT related majors
• 8+ years of experience in designing vehicle system safety.
• Deep understanding of the methods, procedures and tools for System safety development (FuSa & SOTIF)
• Familiar and experienced with the full-lifecycle safety management processes
• Extensive knowledge of the laws, regulations, and standards related to vehicle safety features (FMVSS, DOT, VSSA); experience with NHTSA safety issues investigation is preferred.
• Familiar with the safety development process or technical standards, (ISO26262,ISO21448, UL4600,SAE J3088, J3016, J3197, etc)
• Knowledgeable about general safety analysis methods like STPA, HARA, TARA,HAZOP, experience with the safety issues handled in automotive industry (preferred)
• Relevant work experience across access control and big-data architecture, cybersecurity, conduct risk, data analytics, AI/ML tools and techniques, are a plus
