Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems (EESS) is currently seeking a Proposal Manager – Major Projects to join our team. This position is based out of one of the locations listed, with a hybrid-remote work.
Position Overview:
The role will be responsible for leading application and proposal needs for opportunities pertaining to Eaton’s Project Operations in EESS for a given territory. This individual will also provide leadership and development of a Technical Application Support (TAS) team consisting of Application Proposal Engineers for a particular territory in support of the Project Operations Group in conjunction with the engineering COE Group. Expected results include but are not limited to growth in sales and profitability as well as developing talent within the territory. The position includes travel up to 25%.

In this function you will:
- Execute activities related to preparing large and/or complex technical pricing and commercial proposal quotations for assigned territory, while performing leaders of people activities for direct reports and projects.
- Reassign smaller and/or less complex quotations to others, balancing quotations demands.
- Provide coaching, strategic direction, and powerful feedback to direct reports and broader Project Operations organization, offering guidance in matters relative to product application knowledge, solution development and pricing.
- Effectively manage diverse and dispersed TAS direct reports in assigned geographic territory, which includes multiple office locations.
- Lead aspects of Division Initiatives (Hydro Solutions and Modernization, Rural and Industrial Substation Offerings, Turnkey Projects, New Service Offering Development, etc.)
- Lead process improvement projects for broader team (Development of Standard Work Quotation Guides, Implementation of BidManager/Digital Tools including efficient use of document sharing and saving through Sharepoint)

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Technical Field or Business Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 7 years of electrical industry related field service, application engineering or proposal development experience in electrical power distribution services with additional experience in electrical power systems, hydro and/or industrial and utility substation construction.
- Must reside within 50 miles of work location, no relocation provided.
- Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with managing a team
- 10+ years minimum electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems, hydro / excitation, and/or industrial and utility substation construction.
- Experience in preparing complex engineering service project proposals, developing national program pricing and utilizing BidManager for pricing and configuration of products and services.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of labor pricing and execution.
- Experience with proposal development in both private sector and government bids; experience with proposal development for all of Eaton's end markets (Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional and Government).
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the Electrical and EESS industry, products, and solutions.
- Candidate needs to have a working knowledge of the overall sales function, customer channels to market, and negotiation techniques and must be able to manage division, customer, and departmental resources to maximize growth opportunities.
- Experience with government proposal procedures such as technical and price proposal separation, reps and certifications, and government evaluation factors.
- Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance; experience with risk evaluation and risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and resolve complaints.
- Provide front line support for sales and negotiation questions, project management, and commercial issues.
