AmeriCorps Program Manager – Posting #24272

Salary: $65,000 per year

Position Summary :

This is a full time permanent position based out of the town of South Park in Seattle. The AmeriCorps Program Manager is responsible for managing all aspect of Sea Mar’s AmeriCorps program, which is funded by the National Center for Community Service, Serve WA (AmeriCorps) by providing leadership in program development and implementation of required services. Applicant must enjoy working in a diverse and demanding professional environment that service the medically underserved, balancing multiple demands and priorities, providing counseling. Education, support and exercising creativity to get things done.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Coordinating and implementing member and site supervisor trainings, service job descriptions, teambuilding activities, performance evaluations and service projects.
  • Oversee member recruitment, interviews, orientation, placements and retention efforts; supervising a diverse 10-30 member team spread over multiple sites; regular member support and evaluation.
  • The AmeriCorps Program Manager will site supervise members in the pediatric literacy program and volunteer program and oversee all aspects of those programs.
  • The AmeriCorps Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of AmeriCorps grant management including, but not limited to; grant writing, fiscal management; progress reporting through national database; expanding community collaborations and funding base.
  • Program Manager must communicate regularly with members, site supervisors, Sea Mar Administration, and State and National AmeriCorps offices.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date member files throughout the year, track member hours and submitting in a timely manner progress data in National Electronic database/reporting system.
  • Provide daily Supervision as needed and perform all duties assigned but not limited to Sea Mar managerial functions.
  • Participate locally, regionally, and nationally as appropriate with other AmeriCorp service programs and maintains the necessary community relationship required.
  • Ensures compliance with all aspects of AmeriCorps / Serve Washington contracts, contract reports, audits and invoice submissions.
  • Oversee the development and submission in a timely manner of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports required.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of department trainings modules, and enforcing operational guidelines and department policies.
  • Is responsible for keeping up with all AmeriCorp provisions and ensure compliance with day-to-day operations and ensuring staff complies with corporate policy and department directives.
  • Responsible for program grant writing and pro-actively seeks funding opportunities such as contributions, and donations, and grants to support program needs.
  • Performs any and all other duties as may be assigned with adhering to all corporate and departmental policies and procedures and contractual obligations.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Member must have the ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to communicate effectively with clients or employees of the organization.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to compile, interpret, and utilize information; and to communicate effectively with people of all backgrounds and educational levels.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, use good judgment, meet deadlines, and prioritize workloads.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be well organized and have good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries in all interactions.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills.
  • Must be computer literate and have good mathematical skills. Experience in Windows Office programs preferred.
  • Must be able to solve problems and reason deductively.

Education and/or Requirements:

  • BA in Education, Health, or 3 years’ experience supervising or coordinating volunteers, social service related field, AmeriCorps Program, and or community activities.
  • Preferred undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have a current TB test (within the past year). Must receive a satisfactory background check from WATCH and all CNCS (Serve Washington) background check requirements.
