Job Purpose

Decarbonization Partners has an opportunity for a qualified candidate to join the Decarbonization Partners team as a Product Strategist at Analyst level, based in London.

This role offers the opportunity to join a fast-growing team which is embedded within the information flow, systems, and processes of the world’s largest asset manager and to gain exposure to the fast-growing sectors and regions of the late-stage Venture Capital and Growth Equity decarbonization/net-zero investment market.

Working closely with leading executives on the Decarbonization Partners team, the candidate will work on all aspects of marketing, investor relations, client reporting, product planning and development, and fundraising execution for Decarbonization Partners Funds.

The role requires quickly building significant subject matter expertise, the ability to drive a schedule and the ability to work in a team-based environment in close co-operation with many of BlackRock’s teams including: Portfolio Management Global Client Relationship Management, Global Consultant Relations, Investor Relations, COO, Finance, Operations and the management of BlackRock’s Alternatives business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with senior management, this role will be responsible for helping to support strategic plans for this fund series and for supporting a multi-billion dollar global fundraising campaign as well as supporting the delivery of key operational projects for the business and ongoing investor relations support.
  • The role will be under the direction of the Global Head of Platform and Strategy who is responsible for Decarbonization Partners’ Strategy, IR, fundraising and platform operations activities. The role will interact with and support new product launches, strategic initiatives, operational projects and contribute to the growth in assets under management.

Particular focus items will include:

  • Investment Strategy articulation, including thought leadership on the market environment, the investment opportunity and the competitive environment, and the development of Decarbonization impact/outcome views and reporting
  • Aid in product planning & development, including leading the preparation and project management of a product development lifecycle
  • Help with product launch management, including driving go-to-market planning, positioning and distribution preparation and distribution support
  • The successful candidate should expect to have a portion of their time dedicated to client-facing responsibilities, in support of IR or fundraising
  • A key part of the role will be successfully facilitating partnering with BlackRock’s various distribution and portfolio management teams on fundraising and marketing execution; prepare and present the investment opportunity to prospective clients, team schedule management, lead response to RFPs and client diligence
  • Marketing and Communications to support brand and product development
  • Measurement, Tracking and Reporting, development and management of client pipelines
  • Database and collateral management
  • Ongoing client mandate and joint venture relationship support. Help to solve client investment-related, business and operational issues that arise during the course of the client’s relationship and joint venture management. In this regard, serving as a liaison between the investment team and other relevant areas of BlackRock (compliance, legal, operations, marketing, and sales) will be critical
  • Providing support with the design and implementation of operating policies and procedures, working with other relevant areas of BlackRock (compliance, legal, finance, business management and accounting).
  • Preparing materials for business updates to internal governance forums and senior leadership meetings.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Prior experience and interest in the Private Equity and climate/sustainability investment market
  • Previous relevant experience working within the areas of: Private Equity Investment, Asset Management, Business Development, Investment Research, Investor Relations, Consulting, or Capital Markets
  • Qualitative and quantitative presentation and communication skills are essential to this role, particularly the ability to distil complex structural and financial issues into plain language
  • Strong capabilities with project-based work and ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to operate as part of an international team
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to present detailed financial concepts in a simple, clear and concise fashion
  • Second or third language would be beneficial
  • Full proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Undergraduate degree with potential progression to CFA or CAIA
