Job Description

Description:Lockheed Martin is commercializing a new class of flow battery technology for low-cost, grid-scale energy storage, and seeks a Research Engineer to provide support for the flow battery development program. The work responsibilities for this position include: (i) execution of prototype battery tests to support the development and verification of design requirements for electrochemical power stacks and power stack components; (ii) development and documentation of standard test methods and operating procedures; (iii) working with senior technical staff to design experiments to support root cause and corrective action investigations; (iv) independently executing laboratory experiments to support end of life characterization of power stack components, component verification, and root cause corrective action investigations; (v) write technical reports and give technical presentations to colleagues within the organization to communicate findings.
Basic Qualifications:
• PhD in a field of chemistry, chemical engineering, applied physics or materials science.
• 4 years of professional experience working in a commercial/industrial research environment.
• The ability to be flexible and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of flow battery operation, chemistries, and materials of construction.
