Job Description

Responsible for coordinating, implementing, and conducting sales training programs for diverse audiences with a variety of learning styles for both the classroom and field. They will partner with Sales Managers to develop training programs for new and existing experienced sales reps, wholesalers, contractors and school students to meet and exceed quota expectations. The trainer is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through training and providing satisfactory customer technical support.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Facilitates product and technical training including installation, controls, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting
  • Tailors each training session to the needs of the various audiences to focus on what is important to them for their business and markets
  • Responsible for developing and organizing in-depth technical training for all equipment and devices installed in a HVAC system
  • Collaborates with Product Development, Operations, and Product Management to obtain information required to develop training materials on all aspects of the product
  • Develops training content - handouts, outlines, agendas and reports
  • Contributes to team planning for both training and development schedules
  • Delivers Training Programs / Modules based on training plan requirements and according to a client-driven schedule
  • Incorporates motivating, creative, and interactive training techniques to enhance the training experience, in an effort to maximize learning and retention.
  • Builds training and train-the-trainer programs
  • Supports development of online-learning and training solutions and ensures new training methodologies incorporated into training approach
  • Assists in development of product and technical training programs, including curriculum and corresponding training materials
  • Prepares training facility and lab prior to training classes
  • Acts as a liaison between sales, engineering, inside sales, after sales service and training
  • Provides “last minute” support for training
  • Aggregate technician skill level data by region, provide analysis of regional training needs, and recommend strategies to leverage technical strengths and to reduce the impact of technical weaknesses
  • Develop and review regional annual training plan with Sales Management. Partner with sales, engineering, inside sales, after sales service to implement plan. Monitor, track and report on progress against plan
  • -Review and assess safety records. When necessary, assist Facility Manager (safety manager) with developing remedial action plans in order to address skill gaps that have resulted in unsafe work practices, accidents and/or near misses
  • Review and evaluate training for compliance with government and state standards
  • Assists marketing department for tradeshow/conference/seminar support
  • During main cooling season the technical trainer assists the internal technical hotline agents to reduce call waiting time in order to increase customer satisfaction
  • Assists technical field support team on demand when no trainings are scheduled as pro-active on site expert
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned

Other Workplace Considerations:

  • Required travel up to 80% of the time to various customer locations and training facilities
  • Must be able to travel on business or work beyond normal work hours as necessary
  • Must be able to lift boxes and/or equipment of up to 40 pounds.
  • Required regularly to sit, talk, and listen
  • Required prolonged standing and walking
  • Required to use hands to pick up, handle or feel and reach with arms
  • Ability to read and analyze written information on a computer terminal; close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years' HVAC training experience
  • 7+ years' experience with HVAC service and commissioning
  • 7+ years' experience in facilitating product and technical training
  • 7+ years' experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • 7+ years' experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint; experience with training software is preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC products and controls, including heat pump systems
  • Experience in combining various heat and cooling devices to energy efficient systems
  • Proven track record of success in service and customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to interact with students of varied backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, students and customers
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers; builds long-term business relationships;
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and develop course curriculum
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues
