Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education. Purpose : The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) works in collaboration with affiliates to enhance operational strength in order to help increase Planned Parenthood health care access for all people. The RDO works for the Planned Parenthood national office and partners with the senior level of leadership at Planned Parenthood affiliates, national office colleagues, and other collaborators to help them achieve operational and health care delivery goals. Reporting to the Senior Director, Regional Operations, Health Care Operations, this position develops and implements strategic plans to expand access to health care and to identify technical assistance needs within the region. Delivery : The Regional Director of Operations will be responsible for supporting 5-10 affiliates assigned to their geographical region consisting of 5-7 states. The RDO, in coordination with the efforts of other team members, provides consulting, technical assistance, and training to affiliates in the areas of operations, online appointment scheduling, clinical productivity analysis, practice management, customer service, medical management, and financial analysis. In addition, the RDO works closely with other RDOs, the PPFA Regional Campaign Director, and the Office of the Chief Engagement Officer to ensure alignment around affiliate specific work and within the region. Working under the leadership of the Senior Director, the RDO will ● Lead and support the clinical operations work of the Coordinated Abortion Access Regions (CAAR) program. ● Lead and support service expansion, workflow optimization, and best practice implementation in collaboration with affiliate leaders. ● Build and develop strong relationships to work effectively with clinical operations management and senior leadership from affiliates in the assigned region. ● Assist in the development of implementation plans and core metrics to be used Federation wide; Partner with affiliates implementing these plans and metrics ● Develop and deliver tools, trainings, and systems for affiliates which promote best practices in clinical operations. Educate and inform affiliates on existing tools and resources. Prepare presentations, reports, and publications as needed. ● Work collaboratively with the staff of the other units on the Health Care Operations Team in a way that supports the strategic and operational objectives of the department. Engagement: This position is highly collaborative and serves as a critical link between the PP national office and local affiliates leveraging national resources to promote best practices in clinical operations while keeping the national office engaged in local priorities, needs, and activities. The work will focus on building deep relationships with affiliate leaders, as well as remote and onsite technical assistance to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times and improve patient and staff experience. Working across departments within the national office and with local affiliates, the RDO ● Builds relationships, identifies strategic opportunities for improvement, and serves as a high-level strategic consultant and expert for clinical operations to PP organizations within their region. ● Supports affiliates through the CAAR engagements, and provides direct technical assistance to some affiliates through the CAAR work, including readiness assessments that include: level of support within Affiliate senior leadership; ability to track patient cycle times and health center metrics; participation in patient experience survey collection; assessing patient access by looking at call center operations and OAS data; provide time and opportunity for designated staff to be active in the engagement and implementation process; ability to implement workflow changes and hold staff accountable; and overall capacity to replicate process for other health centers and staff. ● Solves complex problems, often critical issues that affect the affiliates. Provides management with recommendations and strategies to enact change and involves national office consultants from other functional areas as needed. ● Keeps current with established PPFA metrics, Elements of Performance (EOPs), and the Medical Standards and Guidelines in order to help affiliates meet these standards and to be consistent with other departments at PPFA in guidance provided to affiliates. ● Keeps abreast of relevant medical and health care trends. ● Has familiarity and experience working with the diverse communities Planned Parenthood serves, including an appreciation for the assets of each community and understanding of the institutional barriers to health care that currently exist. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): ● A minimum of 10 to 12 years experience; preferably related to non-profit management, health care consulting, health care operations, or related clinical management services. Minimum of three years experience working at a PPFA affiliate is desirable. ● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with additional related college courses or professional training in business administration, public administration, public health or related field. ● Clinical licensure (RN, NP, PA or CNM) or MBA, MPA, or MPH a plus ● Understands and is able to articulate the complexity and impacts of the changing political landscape in the provision of abortion care ● Expertise in managing complex partnerships with strength in managing conflict and crisis and a demonstrated ability in building, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse set of colleagues. ● Expert project management and business analysis skills with the ability to identify priorities and goals, meet deadlines, provide progress reports, and develop tactics for addressing issues or requests. ● Expert skills in writing, public speaking, training, financial analysis, operation analysis, and metrics development. ● Advanced knowledge of medical practice management including optimizing workflows, patient scheduling staffing requirements, clinical quality indicators, and patient and staff experience ● Has a strong race equity lens and experience in application of program design, decision, and engagement. ● Knowledge of diverse groups, experience working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation to cultural differences is required. ● Experience with managing changes in health care operations as a result of public policy at the federal, state, and local level. ● Ability to recognize and respond to problems with potential solutions and facilitate negotiations for solution oriented agreements in a highly professional, confidential, and sensitive manner. ● Gravitas paired with impeccable judgment, professional integrity, and ambition to effectively represent and promote PPFA externally at the highest levels. ● Must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other RDO team members, affiliate partners and PPFA staff. Embracing the ITT values of the organization, has a “we jump in” attitude towards their work with affiliates and RDO partners. ● Must be able to motivate and lead teammates and colleagues who are not direct reports and across divisions, organizations, and geographies. ● Proficient trainer and communicator with assessment and analytical skills that allow effective coaching and strategic consulting. ● Ability to travel extensively to support specific, time-limited work as appropriate based on external environmental factors. Other Requirements: ● Passionate about the mission of Planned Parenthood and the role of health provision and advocacy. ● Discretion and diplomacy is a must. ● This position will need to respond to the needs of a fast-paced operation. ● Self-starter with a high level of creative initiative. ● Sense of humor. TRAVEL : 50-75% | Travel throughout the region and national meetings/conferences as applicable. Starting salary: $130K #LI-SY1 Final offers for this job will be based on capabilities and will be made within the parameters of the PPFA compensation program.
