Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Allocator allocates merchandise to stores based on sales, receipt and inventory plans with the goal to manage store inventory levels to maximize sales, gross margin and inventory turns. They provide quantitative analysis to support the business needs and to direct future purchases. In addition, a Senior Allocator elevates the allocator role by being the point person within the team. This individual assists and supports the manager by guiding the team with weekly direction and special projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize JDA to produce store unit sales and stock plans by class based on historical performance and trends
  • Develop store planning strategy for each class which includes determining volume group rankings, sales forecasting methods, and historical planning basis to produce accurate sales plans
  • Monitor the stores’ sales performance by class against plan to identify trends and store plans that need to be revised going forward
  • Participate in communication directly with the field team to guide inventory ownership by store
  • Participate and spearhead Task Force groups.
  • Allocate merchandise to the stores based on the store’s plans and/or style selling
  • Support the team in executing strategies provided by upper management
  • Monitor & guide the team in open-to-ship targets for each store, in partnership with the manager, to determine additional store needs or stock imbalances
  • Identify and determine additional store receipt requirements and recommend reorder quantities by style and color
  • Establish and modify store groups
  • Participate and provide feedback in weekly cross functional team meetings and email from an allocation standpoint to guide business decisions
  • Be the point person in special projects as well as updating & testing new JDA formulas
  • Initiate & drive communication on a regular basis in the planning process with the Product Planner and Buyer by providing historical data and analysis to verify the plans are consistent with the store’s sales potential and meet the inventory receipt requirements
  • Analyze and recap store sales performance on transitional merchandise, select store buys, test items, etc. to identify where there is sales opportunity
  • Monitor core item sales performance and inventory levels by climate/region/district/store and make necessary adjustments to the plans and allocations going forward to maintain proper inventory balance
  • Find opportunities to create or optimize templates for inventory analysis, size selling, buy quantities, hind sighting, & tools for communication with store teams
  • Partner with manager on the planning of new store openings for the division. Will guide the team with weekly check-ins toward reaching opening inventory targets
  • Assist with future new hire training
  • Assist manager with guidance to team for weekly allocations
  • Act as liaison between manager and team
  • Lead weekly team meetings with CFT partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 -3 years retail experience in merchandising or distribution
  • Technical knowledge in PC-based systems and application software including JDA Allocation, IPDW, JDA SSI and Island Pacific
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, including ability to prioritize
  • Professional demeanor and proactive approach
  • MS Office and MS Outlook proficiency
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible to changing priorities
  • Able to time manage responsibilities and be able to address tasks without direction, as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines
  • Detail oriented and resourceful traits necessary
  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and projects
  • Ability to work in fluid environment with changing priorities required
