The Team

BlackRock’s Systematic Fixed Income team manages over than $70 billion in active and factor-driven fixed income strategies. The platform has a 20+ year track record of utilizing quantitative insights and risk modeling to deliver differentiated fixed income solutions to investors. The Index Fixed Income group manages over $1.5 trillion of institutional index, ETFs, mutual fund and liability-driven strategies. Collectively, these platforms offer clients one of the industry’s broadest array of fixed income investment choices.

The Fixed Income Business Management team in San Francisco, led by the SF Fixed Income COO, helps drive commercialization, business analyses and strategic planning for the Systematic and Index Fixed Income businesses. The group leads investment workflow design, fund launches and strategic platform efforts, interfacing with senior management and partner teams across the globe. The team is responsible for the successful delivery of initiatives that align to our platform, process, technology, and talent priorities.

The Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an Associate of Business Management to join the San Francisco Fixed Income COO team. The successful candidate will provide support to the day-to-day operations and longer term vision and strategy for this growing and fast-paced business

The Associate of Business Management reports to the Fixed Income COO of SF and will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Initiatives – monitoring, tracking and executing on Fixed Income’s strategic priorities.
  • Project Management - assisting in project management and leading directed work-streams for complex, cross-functional and/or high-impact projects. Working with business management leadership to design, maintain and oversee progress for future platform development projects.
  • Presentations - aiding Fixed Income management in organizing and preparing business analysis and monthly financials reporting; leading project review meetings, team meetings, documentation, regulatory reviews, etc.
  • Global Coordination & Collaboration - working closely with senior management and global partners on key projects. In general, the Associate should work as a facilitator to help deliver results and also provide strategic / tactical input as required.

This position is a multi-faceted role which provides exposure to many key stakeholders, including senior management, PM, Trading, Product Strategy, Business Finance, Audit, Business Operations and Legal & Compliance.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • 3-5+ years of experience in financial service with knowledge of fixed income, product development, business strategy and/or business management functions
  • MBA and/or process toward CFA credential a plus
  • A strong understanding of capital markets and fixed income; ability to recognize different issue types and structures as they relate to portfolio management and trading
  • Strong analytical, communication, project management, and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency around deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative and diverse environment
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with coding and advanced data manipulation (e.g., Python, Tableau) beneficial
