Lead Software Engineer - Security

Position Summary

Marqeta is looking for talented software engineers to join our Engineering Fundaments and Security Engineering. You’ll write software that helps ensure visibility, life cycle management, compliance, and security for our systems and infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Develop software and internal tooling to drive automation towards compliance, security, and other areas of cloud infrastructure.
• Empower engineering teams to self-serve infrastructure changes
• Develop security-centric SDKs and APIs
• Design and implement scalable java or golang based services and libraries
• Demonstrated experience in the cloud (AWS, GCP Preferred), systems security, or site-reliability engineering
• Demonstrated experience with incident response
• Substantial knowledge of the Linux operating system and standard OS hardening practices
• Lead projects and drive them to completion.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure Security, Cloud Security, or equivalent role leveraging AWS with a Bachelor’s degree; or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree. In place of a degree, 11+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
• Strong coding and/or scripting skills in Java, Python, Ruby, Golang, or similar.
• Experience leveraging RESTful APIs to build tools or integrations.
• Expert in automation and orchestration platforms (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Hands-on experience designing and developing infrastructure and Database automation.
• Experience automating in cloud environments, preferably with AWS.
• Passionate about solving problems and identifying solutions
• Know how to own and support positive outcomes.
• The ability to listen to the needs of others and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues clearly and concisely, and present effectively in both oral and written presentations to all levels in the organization.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of relational OLTP databases
• Experience with identity access management (IAM)
