Position Summary: The Intermediate SQL Server DBA plays an important role as part of a growing team that is responsible for managing, building, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting the database infrastructure of our mission critical corporate workloads. This includes collaborating on the planning, designing, implementation and maintenance with other groups within the Office of the CIO (“OCIO”).
Responsibilities and Duties: · Manage and operate medium and large-sized production corporate IT database systems/services (hybrid environment) – including MS SQL servers on Windows platform and Azure SQL · Provide direct operational support across all areas of the corporate IT database infrastructure including database clusters, database replication, release management and disaster planning · Perform capacity planning, performance, tuning, monitoring (server/service, database), troubleshooting and optimization of the databases · Ensure that all databases have resilient data protection and are recoverable within business service level agreements · Implement best practices for database design, architecture, integrations and security · Managing role-based access controls · Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance, recommend continuous improvements to the extended SQL services · Develop and support automation of database processes, tasks and procedures · Maintain documentation on systems management and operational procedures · Following operational policies and processes that are compliant with ITIL/ITSM standards · Contribute to the impact assessment, business case preparation and selection of tools/devices that will improve our ability to effectively maintain, monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure
Qualifications: · Relevant IT Certifications, Microsoft MCSE (SQL server discipline) · Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent experience · Install and configure database servers (MS SQL) both standalone and clustered · Provide day-to-day database support and maintenance · Monitor SQL environments and proactively optimize database performance and security · Design and write T-SQL and scripts to automate database management tasks · Maintain operational procedure and processes documentation · Provide after-hours on-call support as required · Experience with database development (SSIS, SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, ETL, SQL Jobs, Database Replication, Log Shipping) · Experience with data integration: REST, API, SOAP API · Demonstrate organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
