The Sr. Technical Program Manager will partner directly with senior leaders across all organizations within Avalara. We are looking for a strong Program Manager, with experience partnering with Sales, Marketing, and other organizations to drive program delivery and execution process improvement for our Lead to Sale book of work related to Avalara Sales. This individual will create the project execution work structure as well as drive project delivery for IT work impacting all of the Business partners in the Lead to Sale space, including but not limited to work on the following platforms: Salesforce.
Responsibilities:
- Manages programs impacting enterprise and possesses track record of successful program delivery preferably in multiple areas
- Integrates full to expert knowledge of program management principles and drives executive level meetings
- Partners with stakeholders to shape capability expectations and outcomes, provides leadership for and across program/ project team(s)
- Intentionally influences stakeholder expectations through self and others
- Demonstrates track record of using data and defining KPIs to measure success from both a business and technology perspective
- Actively manages capability/program using data to drive decisions, and leads change and progress within broader team
- Creates valid estimates of effort to complete engineering work streams and understands the relationship between technology and business, and how technology enables core capabilities and business unlocks
- Possesses proven track record for making programmatic recommendations within technology that enable the business to achieve goals
- Understands the relationship between technology and the business and how technology enables core capabilities and business unlocks

Requirements:
- Minimum 8 or more years of technical project / program management experience in a software, SaaS or systems development environment - including internal process development and change management
- Expert level knowledge in consolidation of all strategic initiatives with a consistent prioritization review
- Ability to control a room, presenting at an executive level the strategic initiative state across projects and teams
- Understanding of how to build executive dashboards; experience in distributing them to senior leaders within the organization
- Able to clearly communicate the value-add of program management and create a common set of expectations within other functional organizations
- Agile and Scrum methodology coaching experience for multiple technical functions.
- Hands-on experience developing and successfully rolling out internal processes which create or strengthen organizational and team efficiencies.
- Understands when processes can and should be flexible; advocates for just the “right amount” of process
- Experience working in a startup environment desired
- Salesforce Experience required
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
