The Position

We’re looking for passionate technologists, strong communicators and those with a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to learn from and educate others. As a software engineer, you will work in empowered, multidisciplinary teams, autonomously tackling complex challenges that provide the very best experiences and products for a growing community of millions of players.

You use technology to solve straightforward problems, seeking input and guidance from team members. You may create or have responsibility to improve or invent small tools or applications. You can take defined design and turn it into code and deliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. You write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects. You are proficient in a broad range of data structures and algorithms, knowing when it is appropriate to use them and when it is not. You make appropriate implementation trade-off decisions. You participate in team design, scoping and prioritization discussions. You seek to learn the business context and technologies behind your team's software. You work effectively other team members & identify any opportunities/problems arising from technical decisions. You invent, refine and develop your solutions to ensure they are meeting customer needs and team goals. You are a passionate advocate for your customer.

The Payments team

Our Wallet Vertical is responsible for each FanDuel users’ wallet, payments, withdrawals, transactional history, tax and player activity journeys. If a customer deposits or withdraws money, check outs out their transactions or needs to do their tax returns, our Engineering team own this and more. You will be working to build out our payments platform that handles deposits and withdrawals via a variety of methods across all FanDuel products. We use AWS, K8s, Terraform, Java, Python & JavaScript amongst other languages & technologies.

What We’re Looking For

• As a senior engineer, you can lead complex technical projects, review and improve code and designs, and have experience mentoring more junior engineers.
• You’re an experienced Java developer (or have equivalent expertise in a similar OO language)
• You may have experience with the Spring framework, AWS, Terraform and Python, but none of these are essential.
• You want to work in a high impact area. We handle our users’ money so our code must be reliable: errors can have real consequences. We integrate with a large number internal and external services whilst maintaining a robust application.
• You enjoy solving difficult problems. We have the obviously challenges of growth and scale but also need to meet new requirements from our product team and external regulators.
• You’re excited by the challenges of massively variable load driven by US sporting events. You might love sports or have no interest in them but you care about running a reliable high performance system.

The Interview Process

• Initial Recruiter Screen (20-30 minutes)
• Technical Task + Hiring Manager Interview (1 hour 45 minutes)
• Final Stage Interviews with various team members (circa. 3 hours)
