Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE (3-4 bullets, previously captured under scope)

  • Responsible for technical oversight and overall management of key projects/initiatives within the Takeda Data Sciences Institute Strategy and Plan
  • Works closely with numerous cross-functional representatives to ensure that assigned projects are progressing in a manner consistent with overall DSI strategy and timelines.
  • Oversees activities of a vendor technical team to ensure technical solutions are delivered in a manner that is optimal, sustainable and aligned with current needs, while also ensuring application to forward-looking digital/data strategy which is critical to Takeda’s long-term success.
  • Manages the day-to-day execution of multiple DSI projects in the planning and build phases of development.
  • Oversees/directs the activities of a vendor technical team to ensure consistent, quality deliverables.
  • Engages with high-level stakeholders on requirements and prioritization, training and overall communication.
  • Supports overall validation planning and execution, where applicable.
  • Manges contract staff.
  • Creates and executes on comprehensive communications/change management plan for Insights & Analytics projects.
  • Measures impact and oversees evolution of business reporting dashboards.
  • Leads/Supports data governance activities across relevant data domains.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in scientific or other data-focused discipline
  • Minimum 7 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry with strong understanding of drug development functions/process.
  • Excellent analytical skills and judgment with demonstrated ability to manage and interpret complex information from multiple internal and external sources to enable high level decision making.
  • Strong communication skills and vendor management capabilities
  • Competency in data architecture, data analysis methods and tools including machine learning, and statistical computer languages such as R and Python
  • Health care business acumen and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
