Job Summary

Comcast’s Xfinity Video Platform group is looking for a passionate Software Development Engineer in Test to help build automated functional and efficient performance tests for our APIs that drive the Video entertainment applications in Comcast. This role will primarily be responsible for building the functional automation test adhering to the quality standards set forth by the wider organization and closely collaborating with the Product and Development teams in Philadelphia/Sunnyvale/London offices. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in helping validate API services that power the X1 video experience on various platforms such as Sky Glass, X1 Set top box, iOS, Android, Web, Roku and Smart TV for millions of customers and performance test them.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Write automated test code that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test restful services using API automation testing tools such as Karate, REST-Assured etc. and maintaining automation codebase in a version control system (GIT, SVN).
  • Work with the Development and Product management teams to understand new requirements and write functional/sanity/smoke tests
  • Collaborate with the QA team to translate regression test cases into automation tests
  • Write mock scripts to test error handling and resiliency of the APIs
  • Performance test of restful micro-services and provide SLAs on it
  • Automate and execute performance test scripts to measure speed and reliability of the APIs using performance test tools such as k6, j-meter etc.
  • Develop and setup Sanity, Daily run and Regression tests using Concourse CI/CD tool

Attributes for Success:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in Software QA and API Automation
  • 3-4 years of experience using industry standard API automation tools such as Behave, REST-Assured, Soap, Postman, Karate, etc.,
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java or Python
  • Proven experience testing and automating REST API services
  • 2+ years of experience working with Continuous Integration (CI) and build tools such as Maven, or Concourse
  • Experience in XML, Web Services, and testing the performance of RESTful API
  • Strong experience with GIT Version Control System
  • Performance testing experience using LoadRunner, JMeter, k6 etc.
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for code quality that follows best practices
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other software engineers within the team
  • Adaptable, committed to deadlines and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
