About The Role
Roku pioneered TV streaming and continues to innovate and lead the industry. The Roku Channel has us well-positioned to help shape the future of streaming. Continued success relies on building customer relationships with Roku that delight and engage them. The Marketing Engineering team at Roku is focused on building the right products and services that help us provide the right communication to the right customers at the right time. We are hiring a manager to lead efforts toward our mission in the Marketing team.
The ideal candidate will have endless curiosity and can pair a global mindset with locally relevant execution. You should be a gritty problem solver and self-starter who can drive programs with the product and commercial teams within Roku and across external strategic partner organisations. The successful candidate will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs.
What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working very closely with your team, as well as broader business organisations like Product Management, User Experience teams, and business stakeholders, to determine and champion longer-term team direction and technology strategy
  • Architecting and developing highly performant, fault-tolerant, and scalable features on Roku’s marketing stack, meeting the demands of a rapidly growing business in international markets
  • Making important design decisions around architecture and balancing long-term and short-term business deliverables
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and support to the direct report staff on both technical and non-technical issues. Ensuring high productivity of your team members
  • Participate as part of the scrum team to plan and commit at the sprint and release level
  • Ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery of the project and new product launches
  • Contributing to infrastructure and process improvement within development organization, scaling solutions to adapt to international demand. Institute and adopt best engineering practices

We’re excited if you have

  • 4+ years of engineering management experience
  • Experience in building microservices, distributed systems, data driven application using modern software development methodologies
  • Comfort and experience splitting time between hands-on technical efforts and managing a team, working with various stakeholders, other business, and engineering teams, as well as end-to-end feature development
  • Experience as a software development lead or manager, building and leading highly effective teams. You have demonstrable leadership, people management and communication skills
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Ability to work through ambiguous requirements and make key decisions to make progress and evolve the platform
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, or a related degree
  • Experience in development and successful delivery of consumer-focused digital media products
