Technical Project Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

TED creates, produces and distributes ideas conveyed through video and audio (most famously TED Talks) to many millions of people around the world. The Technical Project Manager is a key member of our Technology team and works directly with our Software Engineers, Product Managers and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality and on-time products for our TED community.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• 5+ years of Technical Project Management experience building, implementing and integrating web-based applications and services in a dynamic technical organization
• 5+ years of experience with Project Management tools like JIRA, Trello, Asana, etc.
• Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and agile methodologies (including Scrum and Kanban)
• Experience in taking a software product through the entire product life cycle
• Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising technical teams
• Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and track tasks, dependencies, priorities, milestones, deliverables, and risks
• Provide regular project updates and presentations to stakeholders and management
• Conduct regular project meetings with the development teams and departmental teams to support our strong teams of software engineers and product managers
• Maintain, improve and optimize our internal software development process using industry-standard project management processes and methodologies
• Establish and adhere to set development plans and release dates – communicate release plans effectively to the development teams as well as to other stakeholders impacted by established dates
• Use internal tools for project tracking and reporting

*New York Office or Remote working US East coast hours*

Your current location is flexible, but you’ll need to work U.S. east coast hours. Once it is safe, you can be based out of, or at least need to periodically travel to, TED’s Manhattan office.

Salary Range: USD $140,000 - $150,000
