Who you are:

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to be responsible for building reliable systems that deliver actionable information to our customers in real-time. Sets technical direction for significant parts of our microservices-based architecture, and mentors and trains other engineers. Helps build back-end systems to manage massive amounts of data. Works with distributed systems using microservices architecture and builds applications with OO languages (preferably in Java or Scala), using SQL and NoSQL data stores, and runs them in containers in a cloud environment. Builds the services and underlying infrastructure that allows us to deal with terabytes of unstructured data. Contributes code to production systems from the get-go and design significant features that impact multiple platforms and apps. Owns portions of our product suite and is responsible for reliability and scalability. Contributes to planning the next iterations of our architecture as we strive to get more alerts to our clients faster and with near-perfect reliability. May telecommute from anywhere in the U.S.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field and 6 years related (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience.
  • Must also have 2 years of demonstrated experience with each of the following:
  1. Building back end systems to manage data in a microservices architecture;
  2. Building applications with OO languages (Java) using SQL and running them in containers in a cloud environment;
  3. Developing RESTful web-services using the Spring Boot and Spring framework;
  4. Developing unit/integration tests, CI/CD processes and production monitoring;
  5. Developing software components with the application of software design patterns and system design principles;
  6. Participating in the agile development process, including Scrum meetings, story estimations, and code reviews; and
  7. Mentoring junior engineers.
  • Will accept experience gained concurrently.
