The Director of Compliance will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and will assist in all aspects of the firm’s compliance program. This will include, but not be limited to, maintaining the firm’s policies and procedures, analyzing regulatory changes, enhancing the firm’s compliance program, building out a monitoring and testing program and developing a close relationship with compliance’s business partners throughout the firm.
This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine or New York offices.

Responsibilities: - Report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer
- Develop, implement, and maintain Broker Dealer Written Supervisory Procedures (“WSPs”) and RIA Compliance Manual
- Review and approve marketing materials and other public communications
- Ensure new product initiatives, or changes to existing products are evaluated for compliance risks
- Strong collaborative and communicative skills, serving as the compliance primary point of contact for product and development
- Partner closely with the Product team to have visibility into all product initiatives/changes and provide guidance from a compliance perspective
- Assist the CCO with regulatory inquiries and examinations, as well as internal and external audits, risk assessments, and gap analysis
- Assist CCO with the 3120 and 206(4)-7 annual reviews
- Manage, design and deliver the Annual Compliance Meeting, Firm Element Plan/Needs Analysis and Firm Element Training Courses
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise (“SME”) to internal partners and senior management
- Assist with various firmwide books and records obligations
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Broker Dealer or SEC Registered Investment Adviser experience, and extensive background in developing policies and procedures
- FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses required : Series 66 license is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree
- Extensive knowledge of securities laws and SEC/SRO rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge and experience working with FINRA Rule 2210, SEC marketing & advertising, and cash solicitation rules
- Solution-focused and detail-oriented with the ability to work with multiple priorities, in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Within 1 month, you will:
- Become well-versed in the firm’s culture and product offerings and organizational structure by meeting with key partners and reviewing key documentation.
- Complete registration with FINRA and the SEC
- Begin assisting with any open examinations or regulatory inquiries
- Become familiar with systems used by Compliance and the firm
Within 6 months, you will:
- Attend to day-to-day compliance responsibilities, including review of Marketing material and Communications with the public
- Assist and/or Lead Regulatory examinations, inquiries, and other requests from authorities to which the firm is subject.
- Proactively work to identify, prioritize and mitigate regulatory risk
- Start planning strategic goals and objectives consistent with and in furtherance of the firm’s mission statement
- Have regular interactions with key business partners
Within 12 months, you will:
- Be fully integrated into the compliance program
- Help drive key strategic initiatives
- Provide subject matter expertise to CCO and key business partners
- Model Acorns’ cultural principles to other team members and employees
