Job Description
The Director, IT Product Manager- R&D will play a substantial role in combining Technology expertise with knowledge of the business environment to lead transformational change and accelerate business value, leveraging available and emerging platforms, and sourcing technology and data expertise. Responsibilities for this role include designing, growing, and managing the operations organization of R&D team members. This role oversees the core of our business, achieving overall customer experience excellence and employee engagement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong vision for the intersection of operations management and technology innovation to drive scale and quality. This individual will lead and develop a team of leaders who have direct accountability for the delivery of ELC’s global R&D technology, the execution of processes, and ongoing leadership and development of operations teams spanning multiple global delivery centers and remote teams.
This role will bring thought leadership and collaborate with R&D to shape the end-to-end technology strategy, solving product development challenges in a digital ecosystem. Technology leadership in the Clinical, Regulatory, and Lab Informatics spaces, leveraging data science, data quality, machine learning / AI, and data visualization, will be fundamental to success. This role partners directly with the R&D delivery leaders to attain and retain top talent. This position is based in New York City and reports into the ED Global R&D Technology Leader
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- The ability to synthesize leadership and stakeholder inputs into decisions, the ability to manage medium to high level of complexity, and the ability to be comfortable operating amongst senior R&D stakeholders is required.
- Strong IT background with a proven track record of delivering results. Demonstrated leadership, influencing skills, interdependent partnering skills, as well as strategic thinking skills required.
- Experience working across multiple levels of an organization, knowledge of trends is required.
- Work collaboratively across the IT organization to ensure all technology services needs are identified in a timely way and communicated, integrated, planned and budgeted effectively.
- Must effectively communicate and collaborate with Brand and Region Technology teams.
- Expertise driving adoption to improve IT, business experience, and previous experience driving technology strategy for a line of business is required.
- Demonstrated expertise and success driving operational excellence and executing process improvement with a business setting, measuring results, and achieving targeted outcomes.
- Deep understanding of business drivers/processes and the ability to relate priorities to associated technology investments is required.
- Comfortable operating with change and uncertainty, in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy, ambiguity, and accountability.
- Proven, hands-on leader who has a passion for operational excellence and fostering a work environment that supports individual growth and connectedness.
- Demonstrated experience influencing change at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to operate within a collaborative environment with highly motivated colleagues and interact with all parts of the business and staff function in diverse locations.
- Strong personal presence, interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to influence and work effectively with others on the senior management team as well as individuals throughout the organization.
- Coordinate with technology providers to evaluate new and innovative technologies and service offerings. Responsible for the teams who develop business requirements, coordinates with enterprise architects (enterprise, solution, information) to ensure new services and solutions align with roadmaps.
- Drive an Agile mindset and delivery culture throughout the business function, advocating speed and agility and act as a change agent within the function for Agile adoption.
- Identify opportunities to drive continual improvement, leveraging both new and existing metrics.
QualificationsLeadership
- Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated experience with building and developing teams.
- Act as a Functional Technology Leader – demonstrating outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, ability to influence and provide technology thought leadership to the Global R&D, Enterprise Data Management and New Product Launch leadership and act as a trusted advisor.
- Highly collaborative relationship building skills with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Must demonstrate a high sense of urgency to influence changes and drive outcomes from conception to delivery.
- Effective business communicator, with high emotional quotient and excellent executive presence.
- Candidate should be an effective storyteller and be able to swiftly align and mobilize disparate teams by setting a vision common goal.
Technical Skills
- Experienced and demonstrated success leading and delivering large, global transformation programs enabled by technology.
- Global implementation experience in modern technologies such as Cloud and Java is important.
- Expertise in application design/architecture, integration architecture development, enterprise application integration, and integration technologies solutions and standards.
- Demonstrates technical domain experience and expertise in several key areas: R&D and Operations.
- Drive outstanding insights and innovative game-changing opportunities through data science and analytics.
- Hands on experience and demonstrated success in leading digital solutions and familiarity with new technologies (Java stack, Cloud, IoT).
- Minimum Education level: Undergraduate, Computer Science or Business / equivalent experience.
- Minimum Years of Experience: 8-10+ years
