Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Provide same level of support to off-site locations.
Basic Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficient in the use of AutoCAD (2013 or higher) software design program in a professional environment.
Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to lead/drive tasks to completion and monitor/escalate issues
Highly effective communication skills, including preparation of essential presentations
Desired Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Mechanical Engineering design experience (7 years) working in a facilities organization. Previous experience working for an organization that performs major and minor building renovations in a commercial environment.
Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls design.
Familiarity with electronic control systems such as Program Logic Control and BACNET is a plus.
Experience with ductwork, piping, plumbing and sprinkler designs is desirable.
Powerhouse infrastructure design and troubleshooting is a plus.
Ability to interact with employees, contractors and vendors to direct, coordinate and maintain quality control over projects.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Customer service oriented.
Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
Ability to plan and conduct tasks requiring independent judgement in the evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques.
