Be part of our Operation & Maintenance Team in Dubai as a PLC Engineer.

What are my job responsibilities?

• Control and supervision of all PLC/Controls related Operations and Maintenance activities in all Siemens Customer Service sites assuring overall target of system availability as well as all other contractual KPIs.
• Proactive approach to ensure that the upkeep/maintenance of the system is done technically with close coordination of the field team in order to reduce/negate issues that may contribute to operational impact.
• Troubleshooting of all PLC/Controls related issues in all Customer Service sites (DXB, DWC, AUH, SHJ Airports, DFC/MHS, UPS, etc), which is inclusive of logic, communication and any hardware pertaining to the PLC system.
• Responsible for any minor/major modification of the system w.r.t. high and low-level electrical controls inclusive of hardware and software. Eg. PLC, drives, HMI’s, etc. (2nd and 3rd level PLC backup).
• Suggest and implement PLC/Controls improvements.
• Prepare technical reports related to System Improvements, Incidents.
• Control and monitor material flow within the system via SCADA and CCTV.
• Ensure proper communication from the control room to field supervisors/technicians and vice versa for proper fault finding. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
• Role requires working in shifts and providing emergency on-site and on-call support as per requirement.
• Perform analysis on issues raised by the operations team and suggest adequate solutions in order to resolve the issue permanently. In the case of the system, anomaly provides technical advice to field staff as the basis for any operational decisions. Identify and coordinate training requirements.
• Ensure proper handover process on-site and in the control room of shifts with all information/ongoing works passed on to the next shift. Proper in-time communication to Duty Manager or respective Team Lead.

What do I need to qualify for this role?

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of Automation experience / Diploma with a minimum of 7 years of Automation experience. Specialization in Instrumentation or Electro-Mechanical or Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Project development and commissioning involving Siemens PLCs (Simatic Manager-Step7, TIA), HMIs (WinCC Flexible), Drives (Sinamics, Micromaster, SEW, Danfoss), and SCADA (WinCC).
• Airport Baggage Handling System (BHS) experience is a must.
• Good understanding of "PLC/SCADA" systems required. Strong PLC diagnostic and programming experience – fault finding and programming knowledge are essential. The type of work includes electrical and electronic fault finding, electro-mechanical installations and electrical installations and PLC programming and modification.
• Experience in Operations and Maintenance of PLC/Controls will be added advantage.
• Mandatory to communicate in the English language and important to have worked in a diversified cultural environment.
• Strong management, leadership & communication skills towards stakeholders internal and external.
• Technical know-how on performing Root cause analysis.
• Reviewing and assessing operational processes and evaluating technical improvements.
• Understanding of BHS material flow and interfaces.
• Awareness /Knowledge of quality/safety procedures.
• Excellent Communication Skills.
