Job Description

The Sony Pictures Television’s Kids group is a leader in developing world-class children’s brands. The division’s award-winning productions include Octonauts, Peter Rabbit, Hilda, The Creature Cases and Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Tool Belt, SuperKitties, and Sunny Day. Currently, the team is working on an extensive development slate, a string of new content for hit shows Octonauts and Hilda and is in production on a number of series for partners such as Disney, Netflix, AppleTV+ and TenCent.
Beyond content creation, the Sony Pictures Television Kids group’s expertise extend to building global IP franchises via content distribution, consumer products, and live entertainment. Its talented teams are based in Los Angeles, New York, and London.

To oversee the production in conjunction with line producer including managing the day-to-day operations, guiding the creative direction, and ensuring that the project adheres to schedule and budget.

This role reports to the EVP, Creative and a dotted line to the SVP, Television Production, US

Main Responsibilities:

  • Produce and Show Run series projects as assigned.
  • Together with EVP Creative or Executive Producer, lead editorial script meetings; head visual development and help craft all content through all stages of the production process upholding to the model established in development.
  • Work closely with the EVP of Production or Line Producer to ensure that the project is carried out to the established standard; that the project runs on time and on budget and that all vital paperwork is generated and processed.
  • Supervise script coordinator and the content creative team to ensure creative quality and secure all necessary approvals including those from broadcaster and creators (when applicable) on project.
  • Act as key creative contact with broadcasters, key partners, EVP, Creative or Executive Director and other various departments i.e. marketing, brand and licensing; including senior staff.
  • Liaise with other departments to communicate key project based activities and initiatives and provide visuals and other materials they may need for presentations, markets, licensing, web and other platform content (e.g. One-sheets, show bibles, ads, mobile content, web content, blog content, licensing reference)
  • Time permitting, make contributions to the overarching editorial vision governing the company's development and production slates.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in production in series animation
  • Primary skills include: excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and teamwork, problem solving, time and project management
  • Prolific storyteller, highly developed sense of curiosity
  • Ability to lead projects from concept through execution
