ABOUT THE TEAM Basis Technologies’ Data and Intelligence product group guides the innovation and development of data and analytics within our comprehensive tech platform, Basis. The group’s mission statement is to enable efficient decision-making for internal and external clients by delivering new products and features to ensure improve decision-making. Enabling data, analytics, and better decisions for our customers is core to the team — and also includes market research, cross-departmental stakeholder collaboration, user testing, communicating feature requests to engineers and designers, monitoring impact of new feature rollouts, measuring returns on product investments, and more. Together, they leverage their diverse industry experience and talent to brainstorm new ideas, iterate on old ones, and create the best possible product for our customers.
WAYS YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE As a Product Manager, the successful candidate will be steeped in the world of advertising technology, with a strong connection to Engineering, Design, Research, QA, and customer-facing teams helping think through tradeoffs in data models and data pipelines, API endpoints, UX/UI workflow implementations, data visualizations and front-end interfaces, and customer impact. The role will have a direct impact on growing the business by helping to evolve data and analytics capabilities of our platforms. Applicants for this role should have a background in enabling others to use data and leveraging analytics to make decisions easier. Other ways you will contribute are by:
- Contributing to the vision for data and analytic products and features at Basis in collaboration with others
- Defining the “why” and the "what" (as opposed to the "how") of new products and features and managing the delivery of the "what"
- Creating and maintaining the roadmap of department features to be released
- Monitoring and taking responsibility for the health of products in the Data and Intelligence portfolio
- Communicating features clearly in writing as well as verbally, erring on the side of clarity
- Collaborating closely with Engineering, QA and Operations teams
- Working with QA continuously to enhance the type and coverage of platform validation
- Collaborating with Engineering on their feedback on feature scoping and development capacity
- Working with the Operations team to ensure new features can be managed and configured
- Collaborating with stakeholders on product development, and lead the conversation in product trade-offs among stakeholders
- Being clear on task prioritization, logical sequences, and communicating those with internal stakeholders
- Taking written positions on important issues: tough design choices, product decisions, etc.
- Supporting a holistic product offering, in cooperation with marketing, sales, and support departments
- Creating collateral, FAQs, presentations, and whitepapers that can be leveraged by other departments
- Creating monthly product reports, compiling updates/data from all key sources
- Delivering status reports on time every week with the utmost discipline
- Gaining a deep understanding of online advertising economics, and Basis Technologies’ business model in particular
- Understanding the business and how each platform solution contributes to our success
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- 3+ years of Product Management or Product Ownership experience
- Prior experience working enabling analytic capabilities for clients with analytic maturity levels ranging from basic to advanced
- Prior PM experience coordinating with sales, marketing and external partners on (re)launches
- Exhibit good judgement in balancing the needs of clients, partners and the product
- Experience writing detailed product and technical specifications
- Capable of working with engineers about technical design trade-offs including platforms, frameworks, scalability, and performance
- Excellent presentation skills in small and large groups
- Boldness because building a vision and seeing it past the finish line is more like running a marathon, instead of 5K
- Collaboration because that’s the only way things get done
- Honesty because we function better as individuals and groups when we are on the same page
- Humility because you know that there is more to learn and change is sometimes more important than staying on our current path
- Patience because you understand that step A, B and C need to come before step D
- Creativity because we might be able to eliminate step B if step D is simplified
BONUS POINTS
- Bachelor's degree in Product, Business, Computer Science or related field preferred
- Have media experience
- You’ve done the analytical work as an analyst, engineer, or visualization nerd
- You’ve done work to improve measurement to enable effective decisions
