What you'll do as a Systems Engineering Intern at Akuna:

We are looking for a Systems Engineering Intern to assist with Akuna’s Linux server platform health. This person will participate in the deployment and maintenance of our high-performance platform to support our trading environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of projects and problems with minimal supervision. In this role, you will:

• Provide day-to-day support of Akuna’s global IT infrastructure, including Akuna’s high-performance Trading platform, as well as storage systems, VMs, Linux servers and workstations, Atlassian tool suite, cloud infrastructure, and system monitoring
• Implement Akuna’s Linux server infrastructure at domestic and global data centers, including diagnosing issues as well as data center expansions and changes
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues
• Support our server and workstation infrastructure

Qualities that make great candidates:

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Familiarity with system monitoring and configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, and Icinga/Nagios)
• Experience with scripting and automation with Python and Bash
• Knowledge of database systems, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Desire to help troubleshoot multicast and TCP related performance issues
• Assist with automating infrastructure builds
• Experience with SOAP and REST APIs is a plus
• Must be graduating by August 2024 or prior
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required on the first day of employment including F-1 students using CPT, OPT or STEM
