Job Description
The API & Apps Ecosystem Team is looking for a new crew member who will help us manage and engage with our Discord Developer Community! Reporting to Manager, Community Engagement, and collaborating closely with the Developer Advocate, Product Marketing, server Moderators, and the Discord Communities team, you will be focusing on the management of the Discord Developers server, lovingly referred to as “DDevs”. This is the second-largest community server owned by Discord that we run specifically for our development community. It currently has over 100k members!As Discord’s Developer Community Manager, you would be responsible for evaluating and improving the engagement within the Discord Developers server and additional developer communities in the future. You’ll also work with cross-functional teams and mods to ensure it remains safe and valuable to our developers.
What you'll be doing
- Own the overall management, and official Discord communication with members in the Discord Developers server
- Understand and build on the value it provides the members and Discord
- Work cross-functionally with the Community team to understand how we can continue to improve this owned channel
- Plan and execute informative online events for developers in the server
- Surface developer stories and noteworthy trends to the wider organization
- Monitor server metrics to help inform where to optimize
- Contribute to the strategy of how we can better engage with our most avid developers
- Ensure that the Discord Developers server remains a safe space, where we can showcase the latest product, news, tools, and tips we’re building for our developers
What you should have
- 3+ years experience managing large (40k+), online communities
- Professional online-event management experience
- Work understanding of apps, bots, and developer ecosystems
- Experience creating delightful experiences online
- Work both independently and as part of a team - you need to be self-motivated, have organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and initiative, while also working collaboratively as a part of a cross-functional team
- Previous experience working with a community marketing team
- Passionate about developer marketing and the needs of developer audiences
- Knowledgeable in data relevant to operating large, online communities
- Understanding of Discord and it's mission to create belonging
- Familiar with the challenges that come from managing a large, public community space with passionate members
