Program examples may include (but are not limited to) Direct Mail, Membership, In-store experience, Gift Card, Co-Op Brands, MasterCard, and various Marketing collateral. Responsible for all print management of assigned programs that support and deliver on program strategy through execution which includes providing print solutions, planning, bidding, estimating, color management, printing/finishing, fulfillment, shipping/delivery, and budget management stages. Guides continuous improvement in budgeting, strategy, resourcing, optimization/analysis, creative development, tools development and execution. An expert of industry production options and alternatives to identify and develop new program and project opportunities. Successfully trains and mentors internal partners and works effectively leading in a team environment. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.
- Delivers print solutions to support and guide program strategy needs for select marketing programs.
- Manages the print production of select marketing programs through bidding, planning, and purchasing of premedia, print, fulfillment, and distribution to meet project expectations of quality, delivery, and expense management.
- Purchases Co-op print collateral for approximately $1MM - $15MM annually through approved purchasing tools.
- Responsible for managing invoices, budget reporting and budget reconciliation for all projects purchased.
- Collaborates in annual program budget planning, forecasting, reporting and reconciliation.
- Develops new and supports existing external print program relationships which include print vendors, fulfillment houses, USPS, media agencies, etc.
- Continually seeks out new and favorable production resources, identifies manufacturing risks, defines, and executes new processes.
- Deep color knowledge. Ensures color reproduction standards are met through premedia and on press across various print methods and substrates.
- An expert of state-of-the-industry print production methods and solutions. Ability to proactively search for new, innovative, and better solutions for the program and bring those ideas forward to the program owners and creative stake holders.
- Fosters relationships and oversees deliverables with internal stakeholders, and internal staff. Acts as a mentor and educator of the print process for better internal collaboration.
- Defines, manages, and continually improves marketing program execution processes. Process definition includes clear description of inputs, hand-offs between teams, outputs, and timelines. Delivers on success metrics as defined by manager or programs.
- Develops and manages reporting of production data to support marketing strategy, including postal tracking, format performance, and deliverability efficiencies.
- Collaborates with cross-divisional marketing resources and external partners to develop and ensure effective execution print programs.
- Key contributor in negotiations of contracts with current and new print vendors.
- Maintains ongoing curriculum of education of current industry trends to enhance the knowledge and ability of the team.
- Influences sustainable and sound business choices to meet corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals and metrics.
- Advocates for and influences internal business owners, vendors, and key stakeholders to positively impact the CSR meter.
Bring your passion and expertise
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in advertising, marketing, graphics or related field or comparable experience preferred.
- 5+ years (5+ years is standard for senior level) experience in technical print production including prepress, web, sheet-fed, digital, screen and specialty printing, bindery and finishing, substrates, and distribution services.
- Expertise in color management and print quality assurance systems
- Proven expertise in postal regulations, production and delivery elements of catalog and direct mail. Required if position is specifically supporting the direct mail program.
- Excellent retail and POS signage production and distribution knowledge with experience in new store signage prototype development and implementation ideal. Required if position is specifically supporting the in-store signage program.
- Skilled and fluent in a fully digital environment. Knowledge of latest color management tools ideal.
- Proficiency in SAP, P3, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Workfront, Adobe Creative Cloud
- Microsoft Office business applications required.
- Excellent process development and process improvement skills.
- Strong background in planning and administering budgets and forecasts on a project and program basis. Ability to clearly and accurately report and manage budgets in partnership with business owners.
- Skilled in training internal team members and peers on technical aspects of color management related to printed material. Works effectively leading in a team environment.
- Actively participates and collaborates with others across REI for the achievement of business goals. Builds and maintains rapport with partners and vendors.
- Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, REI provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets. The pay for this role is: $55,000 to $110,000 per year
