Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager, you play a critical role within the Technology group. Working closely under the technical program architect, you are responsible for owning technical initiatives. Your responsibilities include project management, independent technical research, creating business cases, managing and coordinating stakeholder relationships, product ownership, and owning external software contractor relationships. In this position, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of challenges. Expect to be needed to contribute to the codebase anywhere from 5-20% of your time. No two days are ever the same.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • 2+ years of experience as a back-end or full-stack developer
  • At least one year of experience owning outcomes as an engineering team lead, product owner or project manager
  • Have enough breadth of technical expertise that you can form your own independent technical opinions on a variety of topics such as cloud, legacy applications, security compliance, data architecture, build tools, container orchestration, etc.
  • Proficient level of knowledge with a general-purpose language (preferably Java and/or JavaScript), SQL and building applications in the AWS cloud
  • Strong communicator with the ability to drive organizational alignment and buy-in
  • Outspoken and vocal; comfortable speaking your mind even to more senior coworkers
  • Ability to identify and engage stakeholders depending on the context, and to learn quickly and adapt based on business and technical needs to pivot user stories or architectural approach
  • You thrive in environments with a lack of formal structure and are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity. You don't need a specific plan of how to drive results. Given a vision, you can take that and run with it
  • You work independently on initiating projects and research and as part of a cross-collaborative team to implement solutions
  • Welcomes feedback and coaching
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, agile environment and communicating continuously
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field

Nice to Haves:

· 4+ years of experience as a back-end or full-stack developer

· 2+ years of experience building cloud-native applications

· Experience migrating applications into the cloud

· Experience architecting large applications

· Experience managing external contractors
