The Lead Software Engineer (Backend) is a hands-on leader who will manage software engineering teams to design, build, and scale backend components serving OTT streaming services. The engineering manager will contribute as a technical leader to the product ideation, roadmap, architecture and planning and manage engineering teams through sprint planning and sprint activities. This role works across cross-functional teams within SPE New Media team to gather business requirements and is responsible for translating the business requirements into technical requirements, roadmaps and solutions.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of software development lifecycle, methodologies with experience in architecting and building large scale backend systems. We are looking for an individual who has strong problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation and technology to build global scalable platform.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain backend software
• Develop highly scalable and reliable infrastructure and platforms
• Troubleshoot scalability issues and build backend services with security in mind
• Lead software development teams by effectively communicating and setting the tone through software development cycles
• Implement proof-of-concepts for new features and services
• Work with stakeholders to create roadmaps, manage schedules and milestones

Qualifications should include a minimum of:

• 5+ years of experience developing large scale backend services
• Expertise with at least one of object-oriented programming languages like C#, Java or Python, preferably C#
• Advanced knowledge of cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience in using Terraform/Cloud Formation for infrastructure automation
• Experience leading technical projects with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Experience with microservices and serverless architecture
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
