Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking a talented Director, Media and Social for our location in San Antonio, Texas. This role can also be performed in a 100% remote work environment.
USAA is seeking a tenured Media leader who will bring an innovative and analytical approach to media planning and performance optimization, with a successful track record of driving demand generation and business performance outcomes in our Property and Casualty business unit. The successful candidate will possess a determination and competency for optimizing media performance with a continuous improvement mindset, test-and learn, and an endless curiosity to identify new opportunities to drive new business performance results.
Directs, designs, and implements highly complex, multichannel media plans for USAA across channels including, but not limited to TV, social, digital (online video, search, display, online radio), radio and print. Responsible for leading and developing a team of Marketing professionals that plan and execute media investments to deliver upon our strategic and operational priorities. Serves external media needs corporate-wide for USAA to ensure completion of the marketing strategy through the development and implementation of media planning, buying, campaign optimization and channel management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the development and execution of highly complex, multi-channel media strategies, working with a broad spectrum of media to ensure marketing strategies are integrated.
  • Responsible for building and managing a high performing team, including individual development, performance management, training, development, and coaching.
  • Presents and communicates media & social strategies, plans and executions to executive partners and stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Leads, influences, and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure all deliverables fulfill requirements.
  • Leads team to translate and interpret business intelligence and internal client objectives to guide media agencies and enable them to develop media strategies that support business objectives.
  • Oversees and monitors highly complex budget plans.
  • Applies an expert understanding of analytics and measurement tools/techniques to provide media strategy support to brand and product line marketing management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required.
  • 8 or more years of progressive related experience in a marketing, sales, advertising and/or communications function, to include at least 6 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: social marketing, digital marketing, website merchandising, search marketing, mobile marketing, or digital campaign management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a comprehensive paid media plan, including internal team and external media agency oversight.
  • Expert knowledge of traditional and emerging media leveraged across a broad array of marketing initiatives.
  • 4 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required.
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals required.
  • Expert-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success in Direct marketing, preferably in property and casualty insurance and/or other financial services, is preferred.
  • Tenured leader with experience developing and leading teams with performance led decisioning through use of data informed insights, test & learn and innovation
  • Senior leadership experience overseeing Media, both traditional and digital, in planning and activation at a premier advertising/digital agency and/or brands
  • Design and execution of strategic partnership initiatives with digital media vendors and leveraging digital capabilities
  • Demonstrated leadership experience setting strategic vision and oversight.
  • Experience in Agile teaming.
  • Track record of translating and scaling digital media thought leadership into day-to-day practices employed by media planning and buying teams.
  • Experience leading teams through change
  • Expert knowledge of digital advertising channels and technologies, including ad buying platforms, data platforms, ad verification/brand safety tools, measurement solutions, etc.

COMPENSATION

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $117,600 - $211,700 *(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location). Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average. Shift Premium will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
