About the role:

The Reliability Engineer is a site based role that reports to the Engineering Manager (Small Molecule) and will participate in:

  • Identifying and managing reliability risks that could adversely affect plant operations.

The Reliability Engineer will work with Plant Engineers, Utility Engineers, Project Engineers and other staff members to make sure equipment is designed and managed for optimal performance.

The role requires a thorough understanding and experience of pharmaceutical facility operations.

How you will contribute:

Focus on safe, efficient, reliable maintenance and operation of equipment to ensure the production of quality products.

Improves the performance of site equipment (production & utilities) by using effective preventative maintenance, timely problem solving, equipment improvements, and training of production and maintenance personnel as needed.

Implements measures to baseline maintenance performance and then improvement targets as they relate to cost, quality, downtime, etc.

Utilize and improve the equipment risk assessment techniques so that prioritization can be given.

Provide maintenance support to all aspects of the manufacturing process in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and all internal operating procedures.

Lead or support projects as needed.

Provides leadership to Engineering team to maintain a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, safety, and strives to develop a high-performing maintenance team.

Actively participates in all Environmental, Health, and Safety aspects of the plant and ensures all safety procedures and programs are effectively being followed.

Promotes knowledge and implementation of 5S, SMED, FMECA and other lean/six sigma/continuous improvement tools.

Develop and/or improve current methodologies and work practices as they relate to Preventative and Predictive Maintenance.

Review data and information using basic statistical tools to transition time-based maintenance into frequency-based maintenance and/or Reliability Centered Maintenance.

Work with Maintenance Engineers to implement standard methods for work instructions, return to service protocols and equipment risk profiles.

Work with Maintenance Engineers and Engineering Stores to establish a spare parts inventory that optimizes the business needs of the plant with cost outlay.

Support the evaluation and improvement of ongoing service contracts.

Work with vendors to source parts and to substitute OEM parts with more economical options, designing and testing improved parts, updating older electronics that are no longer supported by manufacturers to improve equipment functionality.

Environmental Health and Safety:

  • Participate in site EHS activities and ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Actively foster an ethos and culture of safety awareness, where safety is accepted as an integral part of the overall business.
  • Work with all GC personnel, contractors and visitors to ensure that all safety policies, procedures and regulations are fully adhered to across the site on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements as applicable to commissioning activities and contractor management.

Training

  • Preparation and delivery of training material as required.
  • Ensure timely completion of all SOP training and assessment tasks.
  • Ensure that all training and assessment is accurately and promptly recorded for themselves and other relevant personnel in accordance with TILGC procedures.
  • Maintain and improve their professional knowledge base. Keep up to date with all current trends and relevant legislation.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate fully in any cross functional training initiatives.
  • Drive and promote the corporate values of Takeda-ism within the workplace.
  • Actively foster, in cooperation with other TIL staff, an ethos and culture of safety awareness where safety is accepted as an integral part of the overall business.
  • Ensure timely completion of all SOP, reading, training and assessment.
  • Other duties as required and directed by the relevant Manager or other Officer appointed by the Board of Directors.

What you bring to Takeda:

Educational requirements:

  • 3rd level Engineering or Science Degree, or equivalent
  • Qualification in Lean principles would be an advantage.

Relevant experience:

  • At least two years Reliability Engineer experience within a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Knowledge of GMP practices and regulatory guidelines for a pharmaceutical facility.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems such as SAP-PM would be an advantage.
  • Managing project execution would be an advantage.

Important Considerations:

  • At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
