Job Description

What is the opportunity?

A unique opportunity to lead and shape RBC’s Supply Chain Finance (“SCF”) strategy in the Corporate Client Group (CCG) through client engagement, framework design and execution. The candidate will be responsible for shaping and delivering internal messaging and client communication around SCF to RBC’s core corporate client base including large privately held enterprises, financial sponsor-owned businesses, and public companies.

A core part of the Director’s role will be to provide structuring advice relating to SCF solutions (accounts payable & accounts receivable products) supporting working capital optimization for clients in CCG and Capital Markets worldwide. The individual will have responsibility to drive end to end execution of each transaction, from identifying fit with clients, articulating the SCF value proposition, managing transaction documentation, obtaining internal risk approvals as well as overseeing the monitoring of the transactions once they have been put in place.

Initiative, effective communication, responsibility, and a clear passion for SCF are key attributes for success in the role.

What will you do?

  • Originate, structure, deliver (pitch through transaction close) and monitor SCF transactions under the direction of Managing Director & Head CCG ABL Origination
  • Develop and refine CCG’s SCF strategy, including integration with enterprise goals and commitments and processes & policies
  • Connect with and support CCG and Capital Markets business units globally on SCF related matters.
  • Develop a network with other banks and fintech providers to originate SCF participation opportunities and identify industry trends & practices
  • Remain aware of the latest trends and innovations to ensure strong integration within the broader RBC ecosystem and alignment across businesses with their initiatives and actions.
  • Respond to SCF related issues to various stakeholders in the organization.
  • Establish governance and approval framework for SCF transactions within CCG.
  • Develop and review legal documentation for SCF transactions in CCG.
  • Build presentations and lead discussions with CCG and Capital Markets clients on SCF matters.
  • Design and deliver content and training on SCF to internal teams and clients.

Key Relationships:

The Director will be play a critical role in the delivery of RBC’s SCF strategy to corporate clients and will also work closely with CCG Relationship Managers, Syndications, Portfolio Management, CCG Finance, Group Risk Management, Business Credit and Corporate Banking,

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

Degree in Business, Economics or Finance

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Commercial Banking, Corporate Lending and/or Trade Finance or related Fintech roles
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of SCF and other working capital solutions
  • Experience in SCF origination and/or knowledge of the competitor landscape within SCF/working capital solution space
  • Proven track record of pitching to and/or supporting clients in meeting their working capital and risk management objectives
  • Ability to be a self-starter, proactive, able to work independently while navigating ambiguity and putting structure to ambiguous problems and seeing them through to solutions
  • Professional oral and written communication skills are an absolute must
  • Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills and the ability to source market data/perform research
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working on multiple projects
  • A collaborative team-oriented mindset with proficiency in coordinating large groups of colleagues, and clients
  • Well organized and able to set priorities and devote appropriate attention to each assignment
  • Must maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • High level of attention to detail in both written and financial work

Nice to have:

  • MBA, CA, CMA, CGA or CFA
  • Bilingual
  • Experience in crafting and/or driving SCF strategies
  • Ability to commit to over and above regular work hours
