Purpose of Job

USAA is looking for a passionate Payment Operations Specialist, Mid-Level - Wire Transfers to work in a Hybrid work environment in San Antonio, TX.

This job profile is designated as a Sensitive Position. Sensitive Positions are those positions in which individuals have the authority and ability to conduct in-scope activities (movement of USAA or Member funds) as defined within the Enterprise Sensitive Positions Mandatory Time-Away Compliance Policy. Employees in Sensitive Positions are required to fulfill a Mandatory Time-Away (MTA) requirement of 10 consecutive business days each calendar year.
Protects the financial interest of USAA by processing, coordinating, researching, and bringing satisfactory resolution to routine electronic transaction request. Serves as a point of contact for external and internal customer inquiries on electronic transactions received by phone, mail, e-mail or fax.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and handles existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
  • Performs individual member needs assessments on wire transfers and/or delinquent accounts. May determine the reason for delinquency and offers payment extensions and deferments when applicable. Educates members on potential solutions. Negotiates mutually satisfactory payment arrangements.
  • Serves as a resource to less experienced team members on raised issues of a routine nature. Uses advanced knowledge of all payment plans available to members to work out complex payment arrear scenarios and advises members on appropriate solutions.
  • Uses established procedures and job experience to carry out moderately complex work assignments. Collaborates with team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate issues for customer concern.
  • Maintains intermediate knowledge of all payment industry laws, regulations and internal policies, procedures and processes.
  • Completes required account verification, account maintenance, and documents all contact attempts.
  • May work on Entry Level Workload Management, Dual Business, Subject Matter Authority and Deescalate Team Members.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
  • 2 or more years of customer service and/or sales experience or successful completion of military service required.
  • Data entry and self-auditing experience required, with demonstrated ability to maintain strict adherence to policy and process guidelines.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years recent wire transfer experience in the banking industry.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime to meet business needs.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $43,680-$65,700*.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
