Wood Mackenzie is looking for a dynamic, detail oriented and experienced product operations analyst with excellent problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills to join our industry-leading data analytics company and help develop and execute our vision. We are headquartered in Edinburgh where our team is working on a next generation, data analysis & visualization platform utilized by our customer to drive billion-dollar decisions.

This role sits within the Product organisation’s Product Operations team, initially reporting to a Product Director. The successful candidate will be a crucial member of the Product team, at the forefront of evolving our Product practices and closely supporting Product Owners and senior stakeholders on delivering their road maps.

The Operations Analyst will support the Product Owners (POs) and Product Managers (PMs) on the tools and methods that they use to define, build, and deliver our solutions.

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

The role of Product Operations Analyst fulfils the following needs:

  • Aid the production of analysis and reporting to support decision making
  • Identify issues and resolve queries from other departments
  • Collaborating with the Insights teams to establish dashboards and analytics the Product discipline can easily consume drawing on data and insights from customer usage data to support product prioritisation decisions made by POs
  • Work with the strategy and portfolio team to draw data and insights from customer usage data to support product prioritisation decisions made by POs and product managers
  • Advocating, setting up and managing new systems and analytical tools to provide our Product teams insights from different data points - product / customer / market research etc
  • Support the use and further adoption of our product road mapping tool
  • Support the development of business processes to streamline product analytics
  • Helping the product management community to drive product growth and successful product launches by providing key operational support in areas such as:
  • Designing, implementing, and scaling best practices, processes, tooling and templates to standardise the playbooks and processes needed to enable scale of our Product community that drive efficiencies and then working to continually improve them
  • Support the automation of key processes and activities within the product management function
  • Working with the product leads to improve planning processes, ensuring the entire product work is aligned on company priorities
  • Driving and operationalising Product reviews and other forums for the product community and co-ordinating key communications channels between the product organisation and our key stakeholders
  • Work with HR and learning and development partners to improve the on-boarding programme, support recruitment efforts and train the product community on processes and best practice
  • Foster knowledge sharing across the product community. Manage product team’s knowledge base and help evolve the team’s documentation on good practices, while building easy-to-access knowledge repositories and improvement guilds

Knowledge & experience

  • Able to analyse, summarise and present information clearly and accurately
  • Problem solver, able to take complex problems, break them down and come up with intuitive solutions
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, experience working with a large volume of cross-disciplinary data sets with the ability to aggregate and present key insights to the product team
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn new skills
  • Highly organised, you’ll be able to proactively manage a wide range of responsibilities
  • A great communicator, you will build excellent relationships with various departments
  • An understanding of Product Management and Product Ownership needs and the product lifecycle
  • Experience working with Product Management teams and practices in an Agile environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and to co-ordinate and guide a team towards a common way of working
  • Good time management, prioritisation and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues
  • Effective communication, including speaking, writing and active listening
  • Able to give and receive feedback and constructive criticism from a variety of channels
  • Methodical about analysing processes and systems to fully understand their functions
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills and is able to adapt communication style
