Bosch Security Systems, LLC seeks a Transducer Engineer at its facility located at 12000 Portland Ave Burnsville, MN 55337. Design, develop and test all aspects of audio transducers for professional use. Assist Product Management in defining product requirements and performance objectives. Define & prepare product technical specifications based on Product Management requirements, current and upcoming regulatory needs, and any additional internal safety or quality requirements. Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to model and simulate transducers using Solidworks, MagNet (magnetic modeling), MATLAB, COMSOL and other simulation software packages. Research material science, patents, published papers and research in audio and acoustics. Design woofers including materials, and construction techniques. Design and prototype new fixtures and processes that can be duplicated in the transducer factory. Build working prototypes of new transducer designs for testing and evaluation. Development of test and design verification for functional and reliability testing including testing using time domain measurement systems, Klippel analysis, and thermal monitoring. Work with other engineers, stake holders, and clients to refine design. Develop technical documentation and specifications for complete documentation, manufacturing, and testing activities. Use FMEA software tools, such as IQ-RM, to assist in both DFMEA and PFMEA creation and maintenance. Work in team environment with Project Manager to maintain schedules for assigned tasks, and product costs. Work with manufacturing representatives during sample builds to ensure new product quality and costs. Make measurements and analyze data to identify and correct transducer design and/or manufacturing problems. Assist manufacturing to improve methods, reduce costs in labor and designs for optimum performance and cost advantage. Integrate these ways to improve performance and cost of products into other existing designs as well as future new product development projects. Compile data and develop estimates for engineering projects including labor, material, and tooling. Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment. Inspect and verify completed products and observe manufacturing for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards. Investigate competitive product performance. Support the factories for quality issues, fixing BoM issues, researching costing errors, and other continuation engineering needs. Contribute to technical direction and product road mapping, and assist in presentations. 10% international travel required. REQS: This position requires a Bachelor degree, or foreign equivalent, in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics, plus 5 years of experience in an Audio Transducer Manufacturing or Audio Transducer Design Engineering field. Additionally, the applicant must have experience with: (1) Systematic Problem Solving (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone); (2) Failure Mode and Effect Analysis [FMEA]; (3) SolidWorks 3D Modelling and Engineering Drawing Creation; (4) Engineering Change Management; (5) Transducers Manufacturing Processes; (6) Acoustic Test & Measurement Systems and (7) FEA and Advanced modelling capabilities.
